WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) includes a provision that would require women to register for Selective Service, marking a significant potential change in military policy.
On page three of the NDAA, under the heading of “Strengthening the Joint Force and Defense Workforce,” the Military Selective Service Act would be amended to require the registration of women for Selective Service.
While some lawmakers oppose the measure, others argue it would benefit the government. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) voiced his concerns during a committee meeting.
“I just think it’s wrong to say to women, ‘We’re going to involuntarily put you in the military.’ If they want to join voluntarily, that’s fantastic,” he said. “My sister proudly served in the United States Navy. There are so many women in the armed forces doing terrific work. Women have been part of the military since its founding, and that’s awesome. But that’s not what we’re talking about. They’re talking about drafting women involuntarily, and I’m totally opposed to that. I’m also worried about the expansion of the draft.”
In contrast, Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) supports the amendment.
“This amendment would purely cut the government red tape that exists and allow an important government office to be more efficient and save money for more American taxpayers,” she said.
The NDAA also includes a 4.5% raise for military members and a 2% raise for Department of Defense civilian workers.
Former first son Donald Trump Jr. criticized the move, stating, “Democrats want to draft your daughters to fight the wars that no one in America outside of the military industrial complex wants to be in.”

Nope. After the CIA/State 5 billion dollar Nuland coup in Kiev, the Nazi militias were sent to attack the Donbass for the crime of opting out of the coup.
One of the first acts of the coup government was to outlaw the widely spoken Russian language, forbid laying flowers at WWII war memorials, etc. Then they started shelling them and killed over 10,000 in the next 8 years.
And then there is Crimea, it has been a Russian navy base longer than Ohio has been part of America. The coup government stated it’s intent to turn it over to NATO.
It is ass backwards to pretend that Russia invaded to restore the Czar, because Putin is the new Hitler, or anything else.
They weren’t going to allow NATO to move up to their border and warned us for 15 years. They weren’t going to allow a Nazi dominated government to start killing Russians in Lugansk and Donetsk and conduct ethnic cleansing.
This isn’t the 60s anymore. And nothing but a dumbass celebrated the draft (war slavery). And nothing but an immoral dumbass who is also an impractical idiot would draft women.
Females are dangerous in the military. They aren’t suited and they ruin unit morale and cohesiveness.
And most fun of all. Anytime they want they can get pregnant and leave the deployment.
Requiring women to register is a conversation to be had. Might even illustrate what a bad idea this is for military readiness and national security.

And every captured female pilot I am aware of has been raped.
But if we train them up for it, they’ll be fine!
Maybe a better approach is not to put women in the military where there is the slightest chance of them getting within 100 miles of the enemy.
Not happening. I for one would do -whatever- it takes to keep anyone who thinks they are going to come take the young women in my family. And I am NOT alone.

Whether you agree or disagree, it's worth it to have the conversation. In a sane world, the vast majority would see that it's a very bad idea to draft women into the military.
If we return to a draft of any kind, eliminate all deferments for college and minor physical conditions. The elites and wealthy have been evading the draft since the War of Northern Aggression.

I don’t support drafting anyone. But...
Women want total equality with men. OK, so if men can be drafted then women should too. Equality should work both ways.
The out of control ehem will not stop until women feel the pain of such stupidity.

I don’t disagree that the draft is dead. Very few people believe in such service in the US.
I was making the point that case law at that time upheld the draft. Like it or not.
IMHO, eliminating the draft in 1971 was a HUGE mistake!
Facing the prospect of being drafted was a constant “motivator” for young men to go to college and graduate.
With no draft pressure today, too many young men (and women) are, IMHO, drifting aimlessly along, not contributing to American society or living up to their potential.
[I do believe that a college deferment will be necessary, with the understanding that college graduates will have to serve a minimum of two years upon their graduation. Applies to those who are in Graduate school, as well.]
Of course, drafting everyone means that we cannot continue to fight endless wars - MacArthur was right - THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR VICTORY!
There is one other positive aspect to Universal Service - every American becomes a stakeholder in America!
My 28 1/2 years in the US Navy and Naval Reserve was challenging and rewarding; when I am in the company of other Veterans, we share the common bond of “having served our country.”
