Did Tim Scott just destroy his VP shot with this latest double-down on Mike Pence?
Revolver News ^ | June 19, 2024

President Trump reportedly has a very short veep list, and at the top is Senator Tim Scott—a politician who has never truly embraced the America First, Make America Great Again movement. He’s tried to ride the fence, offering occasional support here and there—he’s not downright awful, but his support always feels conditional and without any real passion or purpose. So, the question now is, did Tim Scott just disqualify himself as a possible VP with his latest appearance on ABC News? Many say yes and hope this marks the end of the tiresome “Scott hype.”

So, what happened? Well, Tim Scott is doing what he does best—being a wishy-washy establishment shill. Truthfully, being a member of the GOP swamp is all he knows, and no amount of backtracking or sidestepping now will change that. So, when Tim went on ABC News and stood by his statement that traitor and turncoat Mike Pence did the right thing by certifying a stolen 2020 election, nobody should be surprised. This is who Tim Scott is—he’s the black, male version of Nikki Haley. His alliances are with the establishment, and any act suggesting otherwise is as fake as a three-dollar bill.

...

Again, this shouldn’t shock anyone. Tim Scott has had some bright moments, but overall, he’s been an establishment dud since he first splashed onto the scene. We actually wrote a piece about him last year that rings truer today than ever.

Revolver:

President Trump has delivered his first endorsement since his political reemergence at CPAC, backing Tim Scott’s Senate reelection. Scott’s race is still nearly two years away; he isn’t expected to face a major primary challenge, and the race itself is unlikely to be close unless Republicans are having a seriously bad year.

So why the big public endorsement now? A recent Bloomberg article suggests a possible reason:

Donald Trump is telling allies he’s strongly considering another run for president in 2024 — and close advisers want him to choose someone other than former Vice President Mike Pence for his ticket, according to people familiar with the discussions.

[…]

Trump’s advisers have discussed identifying a Black or female running mate for his next run, and three of the people familiar with the matter said Pence likely won’t be on the ticket.

[…]

[O]n Tuesday, Trump issued a public endorsement for South Carolina Senator Tim Scott’s re-election. Scott is the only Black Republican in the U.S. Senate.

President Trump may see a team-up with Sen. Scott as his path back to the White House. Doubtless, his advisers tell him that this would appeal to non-white voters and moderate whites (by showing he is Not Racist), expand his coalition, and give him an advantage over President Biden or (more likely) President Harris.

President Trump should ignore this advice. Senator Scott doesn’t deserve to be the Republican all-star he is treated as, and he absolutely doesn’t belong on a Republican presidential ticket.

As the party nominally opposed to affirmative action, it is unsurprising that the Republican Party practices it more aggressively than any other institution in America. Republicans are mostly white, and their leaders are mostly white men. Rather than realizing there is nothing wrong with that, Republicans have accepted the left’s moral framing and are desperate to elevate women, non-white, and gay figures as a way to “prove” the party is not bigoted.

This doesn’t mean in the slightest that all conservative women and minorities are overhyped tokens. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem would deserve national praise for defying coronavirus insanity even if she were a man. Justice Clarence Thomas would be the finest constitutionalist on the Supreme Court right now no matter his race.

Tim Scott isn’t an awful senator. He isn’t a stealthy open-borders zealot, and he’s “conservative enough” on most big issues. Yet, once again, the question Donald Trump and every other Republican must ask themselves is this: Purely on the merits, does Tim Scott deserve the hype he’s gotten as the future of the party or a potential Trump running mate? An honest look at his record shows the answer must be “no.” At critical moments, Scott has repeatedly abandoned conservatives and nationalists to hand victories to globalists and the left, sometimes with lethal consequences.

There’s much more to the Tim Scott saga. You can read the entire fascinating piece here:

Don’t Believe the Hype: Tim Scott Is Not the Future of the Republican Party

So, did Tim Scott ruin his chances at VP? Well, we certainly would hope so. These are very trying times, and when President Trump wins in 2024, he needs to roll into DC with a posse that has his back 100 percent of the time and who’s not aligned with the swamp or afraid to stand up to them. Senator Scott just isn’t that man.

In the past, we’ve suggested that Senator J.D. Vance might be the best of the pack in the running to be Trump’s vice president. Senator Vance has proven himself to be an America First warrior. He may not have been on the Trump train from the beginning, but he’s more than made up for it after seeing the light. His loyalty and ideology line up perfectly with Trump and the America First movement.

Revolver:

Many expect Trump to choose a woman, a black, or a Hispanic to be his running mate, operating on the thesis that Trump just needs more diversity points to get over the hump next fall.

We will, of course, support President Trump, no matter his choice. We want Trump to win in 2024, and we want his political revolution to win in the annals of history. Making the right call for vice president is crucial to both of those desires. And in Revolver’s view, simply picking a “diverse” candidate is not the way to go. Instead, the answer is clear: Among the names still being considered for the role of Donald Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance leads the pack.

There are more good reasons for President Trump to choose Senator Vance. If you’re interested, you can read our entire article outlining them here:

Tim Scott was never going to be VP. He might be a nice guy—I don’t know. But he comes across kind of dumb and “yup yup yo” like. He won’t win many votes, black or white that wouldn’t already be going to Trump.

I sure hope so. He and Marco Rubio would be disastrous picks that would each likely result in the Deep State taking Trump out within a year.

I think Trump wants Tim Scott to be Senate Majority Leader when McConnell departs in 2027.

I am not one to condemn a man over a sound bite. Maybe someone can add his full comments on the issue over the last several years.

And in case you forgot we have a representative republic. Unfortunately Democracy was passed over during Real President Trumps election by the those representing us.

And correct me if I am wrong, in a way it is their right. Sad as it is.

I ‘ve never understood the platitudes given to this clown. He’s just another empty suit… no gravitas nor spirit to fight for what’s right.

Tim Scott always struck me as a political opportunist. Always stuxk his finger in the air to see what he should say.

The way the tide is going, if he were an opportunist, he'd probably have attacked Pence.

Scott, if picked as VP, would be one more in a long line of poor personnel choices. Trump is badly in need of conservative advisors who know how to vet people.

Trump needs to read the 12th Amendment of the Constitution. Do not pick anyone from Florida.

Trump needs the pit bull, Stefanik. She’s very pro Israel, knows all the swamp snakes, won’t take guff from palestinians in THIS country and wants the border shut down completely. She’ll snap Kamala’s neck in a debate and said Pelosi is responsible for J6.

Looks like I will be backtracking on my prior comments. I was able to find out a bit more and Tim Scott looks like someone who will take the easy road out of a tough situation.

I am hoping President Trump picks Ben Carson
