A court in Russia's far eastern city of Vladivostok on Wednesday convicted a visiting American soldier of stealing and making threats of murder, and it sentenced him to three years and nine months in prison.
Staff Sgt. Gordon Black, 34, flew to the Pacific port city to see his girlfriend and was arrested last month after she accused him of stealing from her, according to U.S. officials and Russian authorities.
Russia's state news agencies Tass and RIA Novosti reported that the judge in Pervomaisky District Court in Vladivostok also ordered Black to pay 10,000 rubles ($115) in damages. Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of four years and eight months in prison.

Russian girls in Asia troll for US military members. Had a Russian dependent wife client whose husband shot himself in the head in front of her and their 9-year-old daughter. He’d met her in Japan, she was tending bar. At one point she told me she was so pissed at how he left her that “I vant to dig khim up and keel khim again.” Cold woman.
Hope the fellow survives the four years and wises up.

In November 1980, I was assigned to the USFK/EUSA IG office in Yougsan. My SGM being a veteran of 14 years (married to his one wife) over 22 year career to that time, maintained some personal stastical files and data mostly consisting of GI rape accusations, and of course marriage to foreign nationals. In those days, the Soviet girls had not shown up in any numbers accessible to GIs. However, the precautions and hoops our command placed on the guys required them to come thru the Chaplain and IG on a marriage packet checklist, along with JAG. The SGM told me you are not going to marry the first girl you pay to sleep with, your are going to college, Korean American Friendship Assoc dinners with families, learn from me to speak Korean, and after this year work for the CINC. All of which happened.
After the Korean Olypics, and again after the USSR break up, I remember the blonds in great numbers embracing capitalism.
