Former White House chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that because of “political ideology,” there were more COVID-19 deaths and hospitalizations in red states versus blue states.
Co-host Jonathan Lemire said, “We now head into a moment where because of that divisiveness, it’s become a political issue. Vaccinations in particular have become a political issue where you have not just Donald Trump but other Republicans saying, no, no, don’t take the COVID vaccine. We had other prominent figures saying, no, you should not take other vaccines as well, things that are standard that everyone has perceived for decades. With this much of disinformation and anger and just flat out vaccine hesitancy, how nervous are you about our ability to handle the next pandemic, whatever it might be?
Fauci said, “I’m very concerned about that because the misinformation and disinformation about absolutely scientifically proven life saving interventions. It’s astonishing to me that so many people by political ideology will make a decision that would actually endanger their lives. The facts are, and as a physician and a scientist, this is very painful to me, that if you look at red states versus blue states, because of people getting less vaccinated because you’re a Republican versus a Democrat, there are more deaths and hospitalizations in red states versus blue states. That’s horrible that that happens, that people suffer and die because of misinformation that’s related to a political ideology.”

It’s not true. People died at the same rate across every country. 5 Democrat Governors were responsible for half the deaths in the US, because they used nursing homes to store covid patients and they also told people to go hug when Trump was President.
They probably got the usual little colds and flu. Lots of evidence that Covid was never a spreading virus as described—and no history of an RNA virus “pandemicking”.
But yeah, your poor jabbed colleagues have probably been sniffling with reduced immunity.
Anyone but a political hack would discount the assertion about “Red” versus “Blue” states.
Some “Red” states are at the top of the list, like Florida, but obviously the average age in Florida is higher than the average in the US, because millions retire there. Utah has the second lowest death rate. Hawaii has the lowest - duh it’s an island. Texas (#27) has a lower death rate than New York (#11). I guess Fauci really is an idiot, he doesn’t even look at the data and then comes off attacking the right.

How would we ever know? Some hospitals, states, etc., deliberately lied about COVID cases/deaths.
I’m sure Fauci’s numbers include people like my friend Mike. He was feeling sick and went to the hospital, and he found out he had end-stage leukemia. He died a few months later at 70. However, because he tested positive for Covid, the hospital got to count him as a Covid death and collect the government cash.
Yes! The AIDS epidemic was a trial run. They tried to do the same thing with the gay community as they did with COVID, but the gay community put up a fight- with the support of the press I might add.
Someone should find and post the videos of Fauci during the AIDS epidemic. They will be hard to find.
The problem with Leftists is he’s probably meaning on May 3, 2020 between 2:00 and 2:30. That’s all the data they need to deceive.
BTW, nursing homes are a big drain on state medicaid resources. Were these democRAT governors trying to get rid of their “useless eaters” by requiring the nursing homes to take in COVID patients. When COVID first broke out there were news stories reporting that the elderly were dying in the greatest percentages and speculating that this was an engineered virus to get rid of the burden of the elderly in China. That news narrative was quickly ended before the nursing home incidents happened here?

It was not a “political ideology.” People didn’t trust the vaccines because of widely reported, serious side effects, as reported to the VAERS system and also experienced directly through contacts with friends and family.

If you scroll over to the column that is deaths per 1M people, it will order the states high to low.
The 25 state/midpoint has the following number of states with higher per million deathcounts:
15 red and 10 blue
For the lower 25 it was 14 blue 11 red.
This does not look a lie on his part. But it looks inconclusive to me, and it does not address senior population density.
I would call this unproven, but not false.
I think these stats are totally bogus.
