BY “go into debt”, do they mean merely that the parents put some or all of the trip expenses on credit card(s), or do they mean the parents took out a loan to help pay for the trip. The former is a line or lines of credit they already had, and it only means they won’t use that credit for somehing else, while the latter means they obtained money by a personal loan. Actually, the latter might be on a more favorable interest rate than they had on their credit card(s). However, either way, it means they will be paying for the disney trip for many months into the future.
Like our national parks.
These are the same people who think they can afford a luxury because the credit card interest is less than their income.
Disneyland in Calif USED to be a great place to spend a day.
NO LONGER interested when “DAYS” were for LBGT ONLY.
then they are nuts!
Fortunately, a lot of parents have figured it out and no longer want to do a Disney World vacation. Not at over US$100 per person per day park entrance fee.
A lot of people charge costs for a vacation, regardless of the destination. If you’re going to rent a house or make hotel and other reservations, you pretty much have to use a credit card, even if you’re going to pay the bill in full when you get it.
I don’t see why “Disney” is relevant.
Sending thousands to stand in line hours for a carnival ride, what better use of scarce money?
That's their own stupid fault.
If you choose to go into debt for a *vacation* that costs that much, don't complain about the consequences.
The days of Disneyland being reasonably priced are long gone.
Now it is incredibly expensive -
“One-day, one-park admission starts at $104 for adults and $98 for kids ages 3 to 9.”
So for a family of four, two kids under 9 - it’s over $400 just to walk through the gate for one day - not including any other amenities.
Glad I grew up in the “good old days,” we’d go once a year - my dad would have never taken us to Disneyland for that price (there were five of us, more with our cousins).
Going into debt is like taking the canoe out with the tide and coming back against it.
Headline starts with Bidenomics but nowhere in the article are the words Biden or Bidenomics used. LOL
I meant Bidenflation. My bad.
Not...for...free
To watch a parade of drag queens? This is just sick and getting more so.
The best part of central florida tourism? Kennedy Space Center and it’s real.
Last time I went to Disney World was 1988 and then I found out how they cater to the employees that are gay. Great employment for child molesters. Polk County Sherriff’s office runs stings all the time and they always snare several Disney employees. I doubt they lose their jobs and most likely get a pay raise.
We have been the horrible parents and skipped Disney trips for the last 4+ years. Instead opted to visit Mt Rushmore, Custer St Park, Outer Banks, Mackinaw Island, a dozen other smaller state parks and landmarks, and enroll our daughter in a Christian private school. Shame on us for spending our money that way instead of using it on Disney. /sarc
This has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while. Why would any sane person go into debt (especially with the interest that credit cards charge) for a vacation?
A trip to Disney for 4-5 days versus 6 months of college. Spend the money on ultralight hiking gear and go backpacking and hike the Application Trail - you’ll still have money left over after 4-5 months;)
