God invented divorce. It is in the Bible. The reason for divorce is so the spouses don’t kill each other. I say this as a former divorce lawyer.

God didn’t invent divorce - Moses did. God says in Malachi that he hates divorce, and Jesus said that anyone who divorced his wife other than for reasons of adultery and married another was guilty of adultery.

What about the other 75%?
Keeping divorce to avoid murder is like keeping abortion for rape or incest.
