That is the best idea. Hope some non-greedy docking company siezes the opportunity.

Between just North of where it is now, just north of the Walt Whitman Bridge and Penn's Landing, just South of the Ben Franklin Bridge, there are quite a few decaying piers and wharfs that the city could condemn, if it doesn't own them already, and dredge the waters nearby to accoomodate the ship. If the ship doesn't need to pay rent, more money can go to restoration. Since the United States was born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia is fine home for the SS United States as a floating hotel.

I hope you contact your City Council rep with this idea. Or whatever agency runs the waterfront — Public Works?
