Such a shame. Born and raised in California. I grew up in one of the most beautiful places on earth (Tahoe) if I don’t mind saying so. I started a business after college was doing fantastic with Pete Wilson. The economy was insane. I got out when Gumby got erected and thank goodness I did. The writing was on the walls where there were more Spanish road signs than English. Now. Forget it. I still visit family but avoid it aside from that.
You know that’s not enough for the “gib me dat” crowd.
I fear that, too. California's budget is already too large. Shop owners should be encouraged use a safe and effective ounce of lead to curb organized shoplifting rings, instead. :)
“They worry the ballot measure’s proposal would disproportionately criminalize low-income people and those with substance use issues rather than target ringleaders who hire large groups of people to steal goods for them to resell online.”
They’re afraid of criminalizing criminals!
As for the ring leaders - it’s the Rats themselves.
We already have reparations, it’s called “welfare”, EBT cards, DEI, etc.
And several interviews with convicts in the tents produced the same thing “I’M NEVER COMING BACK HERE”. Whether that means that they’re leaving the state to commit crimes somewhere else, or clean up their lives, the result is the same. The crime rate falls.
RIP sheriff Joe.
IT ha already cost A LOT OF MONEY for stores to “LOCK UP” everything.

HE PASSED EVERY SINGLE TEST THEY GAVE HIM:
PB & J SANDWICHES: DIETICIANS claimed that was just fine.
Complaints that only the MAN were on Chain Gangs breaking up rocks:
Sheriff Joe put the women on the same rock breaking duties.
Men were walking out when time served wearing 5-8 pairs of BVD’s.
Sheriff JOE had them all dyed PINK.
PROBLEM ENDED.
THEY EMPTIED THE PRISONS DURING COVID.
I AM PRETTY SURE THEY ARE NOT YET FULL AGAIN.
