Got us into Vietnam, just because he had no moral compunction about it at all, then wised up to the thousands of Americans he had ALREADY killed and the political liability he had become by the time of the '68 convention, and took his leave and went back to Texas to continue being a total psycho, for a time.
There's a TIME photo of him picking up his beagles by the ears, just for a chuckle. There's another photo of him turning and screaming at someone in a blind rage, flipping the finger, and JFK turning back to restrain him, with an OMG expression... say what you will about him but JFK was still a saint alongside of LBJ.
