Some Senate Republicans are expressing concerns over former President Trump’s calls for political vengeance after the 2024 election, warning that retaliatory prosecutions will lead the country down a bad road.
The Senate GOP’s top leaders — Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Whip John Thune (S.D.) — have shown no desire to embrace Trump’s calls to prosecute senior Biden administration officials or his longtime nemesis Hillary Clinton.
And some GOP senators are pushing back against conservative colleagues who want to freeze Justice Department funding or defund special counsel Jack Smith’s criminal prosecutions of Trump.
They don’t want to stumble into a government shutdown by waging war over the Justice Department’s budget or taking other retaliatory steps favored by Trump’s allies.
Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) says he thought Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s (D) case against Trump was “an unjust prosecution.”
But he’s concerned about Trump’s vow to retaliate with politically motivated prosecutions from his own Justice Department if he’s elected in November.
“This is not the direction we want this country to go,” he said.

He never mentioned revenge in that interview. He redirected Phil to the concept that these seditionists and the Biden bribery racket committed very serious crimes, and that justice requires it get examined in court.

I have never heard Trump say that. What I have heard is Democrats say that is what he will do. Any time Trump has addressed the subject it is always targeted at those who have abused their positions of power to break the law. And of course, the likes of Thune and McConnell, two of the weakest Republican senators, will believe anything that is negative to Trump and the Leftist The Hill will push anything anti Trump.
And as usual, the RINOS DC swamp evil spineless POS Republicans in the hellhole of of Congress get all linguine! We will never win a fight against the progressive evil, left-wing communist, Marxist rats with people we have on our side in Congress and the Senate. Never! If we don’t get rid of them, vote them out we will never have victories again.
