Kristi Noem claims she ‘doesn’t care’ about not being on Trump’s VP shortlist — but says he should pick a woman
The New York Post ^ | 06/09/2024 | Ryan King

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem shrugged off reports that she hasn’t made the cut for finalists in former President Donald Trump’s veepstakes — but appeared to throw her support behind one candidate for the job.

Noem, 52, who has continued to campaign for the 45th president, was adamant that she will continue to back him nonetheless and urged him to tap a woman for his ticket.

“I’ve told President Trump over and over again he needs to pick whoever helps him win. I have been loyal to him since the very beginning,” Noem told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday.

“I don’t care. I love my job in South Dakota. I care about the fact that I want him to win.”

Multiple reports say that Trump has winnowed down his list of vice presidential contenders to at least eight:

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)
Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio)
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.)
Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC)
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.)
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY)
Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson

*** “All the polls tell him in these swing states that a woman on the ticket helps him win,” Noem surmised. “One in four Republican women haven’t made up their minds because they want to have a woman talking to them about the issues.”***

Hopefully Stefanik. She is loyal to Trump and he puts a lot of weight on loyalty.

Or at least someone who has not killed his/her dog.

I will never understand why she wrote about that incident in her book. It didn't occur to her that maybe, just maybe, people might hold that against her?

Non starter based on her affair with Corey Lewandowski.
Media and her opponents would have a field day with that.
The dog story is the least of her problems.

Never Tulsi. She is a poison pill for the ticket. Why would Trump pick someone who contends she has abruptly reinvented herself to align with the winning team when her long held, clearly enunciated positions are quite different.

Tulsi positions:
The very real possibility of Roe v Wade being overturned terrifies me. I am sick of women’s bodies being used as pawns so politicians can score cheap political points at the expense of their freedom and safety.

We need to invest in 100% renewable and safe energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal. I also support a ban on fracking, ending the $26 billion/year in fossil fuel subsidies, ban offshore drilling, harness innovation to create jobs in renewable energy, provide better opportunities for our farmers, ensure every American has clean air and water, and ban all subsidies or waivers to the nuclear power industry, which should itself be completely responsible for paying for its own insurance and paying the long term cost for safe storage of nuclear waste over centuries.

I support a single-payer system where everyone contributes and is covered, and that will also allow individuals to access private insurance if they choose. If we truly want to reform our healthcare system, we cannot give big insurance and big pharma a seat at the table to draft legislation.

No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I will not accept the false choice between compassion and security that is currently being offered to us. We need comprehensive immigration reform to address our broken immigration laws and we need to have a serious conversation about the most effective and humane ways to compassionately secure our borders while building bridges and cooperative foreign policy with other countries. Most urgently, we must pass DACA to ensure children who know no other home are allowed to remain in the US and take steps to ensure children are not separated from their parents.

Why would she choose to take herself out of the running by making herself a national joke? Surely she could have just declined quietly to Trump if it came up and she wasn’t interested.

You can take the girl off the ranch, but you can’t take the ranch out of the girl.

Yeah, Top of list of Reagan’s mistakes was Sandra Day O’Connor. When we have black Republicans running for president, we get real Brain Surgeons and Rocket Scientists, not professional agitators and Courtiers. We need to pick women similarly. If a woman isn’t the best man for the job, pick the man.

If she wants Trump to go for diversity for the sake of DEI, why should he stop at a woman (whatever that means anymore). Why not go for gay, trans or even pedophile.

Agreed. But even if I bought the argument that she would help bring victory, she is NOT MAGA. MAGA must outlast Trump, and his VP would be a presumptive heir to the movement.

Further, we need someone who would not tempt the Deep State to knock Trump off to get to the Democrat next in line.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.)

This decision NEEDS TO BE MADE ON MERITS AND VOTING RECORDS, NOT ON Gender !!!

Dear President Trump,
The reason for your great success is that you are not part of the deep state and came from outside Washington.
Your VP will be charged with carrying on MAGA.
You are not going to get that from a politician.
Find an extraordinary citizen with the same fire as you, take them under your wing and show them what needs to be done.
Step outside the norm, and let us, the people, take the reins when you have served your term.

Because women are half the total number of voters and Trump has a checkered history with his comments about women (and maybe actions). Some women will be more willing to vote for him if they see he has chosen a female VP.

If only she hadn’t added that dog story to her book...
OTOH, we may have dodged a bullet. It’s one thing to shoot a stock-eating dog -— not that uncommon for farmers -— and another thing to basically brag about it in a book, I’m assuming to show strength and decisivness.

Then should he pick an ugly woman? A lot of women can’t stand good looking women.

I’m a big fan of Huckabee Sanders, but she’s a little young, though old beyond her age in many ways. Also, she has lost a ton of weight since her thyroid cancer diagnosis. I pray she’s all right.

“The question is which ones in capable of continuing MAGA after Trump leaves office.”
^

I can think of only one but for some reason, HE might produce an even more effective MAGA than Trump himself.

FReepers reject him...
