Another excellent piece.

I liked this part the best:

I will never forget the election you won years ago by visiting high numbers of Republican voters, over 90% and selected indys. That a great plan even when the odds are long.

We face a different type of race here in the Keys. Without saying who it is we have two candidates running for the same office. One is a dem and the other is a Republican.The dem represented our area years ago and was well thought of at the time.

Today there are very high ranking officials in our county who are supporting the dem even though they are well known Republicans. Some wonder why anyone would support a democrat when their party is hell bent on destroying the nation.

The dem running is super slick. He is a lawyer and is smart enough to campaign as if he were a Republican.

I know for a fact that he was asked to join our party and basically run unopposed,a sure win for him.

He refused to do so with no reason given.

He tried to turn me several times at a luncheon I used to attend but when I asked him why he was still a dem he had to talk around the question and could not give a straight answer.Nor did he have much to say about why he campaigns as a Republican.

There are several ways to beat this guy and if asked I will volunteer how to do it. But, historically, I have always stayed away from local politics since I simply can't do what I do here and do local as well.

Now I see yet another reason why that was a good move.

When you allow God to use you, he uses you in the most unexpected ways and he is using us in the School Choice petition if you will allow it. After not being allowed to gather signatures in the church a few of us have decided to gather signatures at the source, which is good old-fashioned door to door and how some of us forgot what a blessing that is.

Now I have the advantage of not being a Repub for the past decade so I forgot the bad times knocking doors and getting my guts kicked in by the random Dem practicing his logger discussion techniques. I have forgotten the thousands of doors I banged although I had a pretty good system of how to avoid many of those crazy lib confrontations which has helped with this gathering.

Going out today I was concerned since there was some disappointment nobody wanted to help but, in the end, it was my project and whatever happened, happened. When I got to the meeting spot at Wankers there was nobody else which reminded me of those days by myself knocking doors and just went to work and picked up the first signature from the husband of a signer from the night before. God is so good.

It was warm and I talked briefly to a lib lady who said she did not want to sign and said fine and moved on to some other houses which nobody was home. She was loading her truck since she was checking on the house and asked me three times for information and obviously wanted to argue but just told her I didn’t have time for her to take literature and think it over and moved on my way.

Then started finding people home and they were signing then hit a house where the lady not only had heard of the petition but was looking all over the place for it. She was a half mile from Wankers Corner and still never signed it. She signed it and got her husband to and said God Bless You for doing this a half dozen times.

Then hit an Aussie guy I knew from a few years before and got a good on you mate as I walked away.

The next door was an old friend from the old baseball coaching days. We were both coaches for our sons and Mike was one of the better coaches who had a son Mick who was a pitcher and QB who did both for Tualatin HS taking them deep into the playoffs. My son did both in Little League so they knew each other from camps and playing against each other a few years younger.

I recognized Mike and hadn’t seen him for a few years and asked how Mick was doing. He kind of froze and said I hate to tell you this, he killed himself last year. He was a doctor at the Mayo clinic and his wife was six months pregnant…

All I could say was I would pray for him and put him on the prayer list which he really appreciated. We hugged and was numb at the thought of such a young talented kid would consider such a thing let alone do it but there I was trying to comfort my very good friend while collecting signatures for kids and parents but also to connect with our friends and neighbors.

This is a spiritual war we are fighting against demonic powers who want to kill and destroy people and families. There is power in the connection of people and especially those who believe in God. When I left the house and crossed the street I was weeping for my friend and his son, it was all there was.

God can use you going door to door. This petition is something most people want and the reception from those who are aware is overwhelming. I thought the lady saying God Bless You made my day although I had no idea what true blessing from God is truly about.

If you want to be blessed and do God’s work, be at Wankers at noon tomorrow and you will be used by Him.
