Since it has been around a decade since I had done anything political, I had forgotten how anemic the Oregon Repub party truly was. It is not their fault since they have been trained by their managers to not do anything effective but to simply attend meetings and talk about winning elections they expect to lose. Trying something new and not the same useless activities which never succeed.
They have gone back to the useless activities they used when I first became a PC which is make phone calls and leave literature on doorknobs which the person may look at on the way to the garbage. They have become so used to losing and being on the short end of the super-majority the effort is just not there.
When is someone going to ax the question, why are you doing the same thing which made you a super minority for decades? When are you going to try something different even if it is wrong? Simply following the formula of the Dems is a guaranteed loss and yes, we know there is massive vote fraud, but you are not making it hard on them.
Here is the problem, you are copying a system you do not have the resources to copy. The Dems have unlimited money and volunteers through the unions who pay their volunteers. Repubs have no money and very few volunteers and the ones you have are either working for a living or retired. You have to work smarter and play to your strengths which are actual solutions to the Dem created disasters.
Everybody in the Repub Party from Chairman to candidate for dog catcher should be canvassing the School Choice Petition and finding like minded voters motivated to vote Trump. Our biggest issue will be ending the conversation as they go from complaint to complaint. You need to do it in groups by car and skip Dems to find your target rich Repubs and friendly independents. This will help you map your neighborhoods so you can chase ballots during the actual election.
If you are a Repub you have two choices, win ugly or lose graciously. Oregon has mostly gracious candidates. Trump understands since there is no way a Dem is going to be given the benefit of the doubt by the Establishmedia and never will, yet Repubs continue trying to get on their good graces. Do not waste your time and learn to win ugly and grow a tortoise shell, take it to them with issues like School Choice, Forest State Mismanagement, and Toll Roads, all big ugly winners as you fight from the high ground.
Waving at cars from the ditch next to the road across from a church collecting signatures had a few doubts about why I was doing this humble effort. Then I thought, my savior was hung on a cross and I am complaining about being lowered on the side of the road. On top of that, Donald Trump has given up a great lifestyle and has wasted millions fighting a criminal injustice system and I was worried about having funny looks and wishing I could be on the church’s property to get signatures for Oregon kids. How pathetic do you have to be to worry about mild discomfort?
Compared to what Trump is going through this is absolutely nothing. It is a bit frustrating having to send people a half a mile away to sign but it is time to get refined by fire. It is time to fight with everything you have like he is to save our state and country. There is a golden opportunity to change the direction of Oregon when even the P-Towners are getting tired of crime and homelessness making those 40,000 votes in play if the Repubs would just get back to the doorsteps where the hurting live.
Now is the time and the petition is the path for anyone wanting to win. Doing the same old canned speech you have given to the same people for the hundredth time will get you no new votes. Collecting signatures will get you names and like-minded people to turn into volunteers and sign locations if you work smarter and try something different.
Whether they do a little or a lot it all makes a difference, But who knows, like most Oregon Repubs, you want to lose graciously rather than win ugly.

I will never forget the election you won years ago by visiting high numbers of Republican voters, over 90% and selected indys. That a great plan even when the odds are long.
We face a different type of race here in the Keys. Without saying who it is we have two candidates running for the same office. One is a dem and the other is a Republican.The dem represented our area years ago and was well thought of at the time.
Today there are very high ranking officials in our county who are supporting the dem even though they are well known Republicans. Some wonder why anyone would support a democrat when their party is hell bent on destroying the nation.
The dem running is super slick. He is a lawyer and is smart enough to campaign as if he were a Republican.
I know for a fact that he was asked to join our party and basically run unopposed,a sure win for him.
He refused to do so with no reason given.
He tried to turn me several times at a luncheon I used to attend but when I asked him why he was still a dem he had to talk around the question and could not give a straight answer.Nor did he have much to say about why he campaigns as a Republican.
There are several ways to beat this guy and if asked I will volunteer how to do it. But, historically, I have always stayed away from local politics since I simply can't do what I do here and do local as well.
Now I see yet another reason why that was a good move.

Don't you mean "no way a Republican is going to be given the benefit of the doubt"?
The democrats ALWAYS get the media's benefit of the doubt...
