National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that it was tragic that innocent people were killed during the Israeli military operation that rescued four hostages who were kidnapped during the October 7, 2023 Hamas terror attack.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “I want to ask you a little bit more about that mission. One of the questions is what we’re hearing from Gaza, different hospitals in Gaza say at least 236 people were killed as a part of the Israeli operation to rescue hostages what is your understanding of how many Palestinian civilians, not militants, but civilians were killed in that rescue mission?”
Sullivan said, “We in the United States are not in a position today to make a definitive statement about that, the Israeli Defense Forces have put out one number and the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry has pulled out another number. But we do know this Dana innocent people were tragically killed in this operation.”
He continued, “The exact number we don’t know, but innocent people were killed and that is heartbreaking. That is tragic. The president himself has said in recent days that the Palestinian people are going through sheer hell in this conflict, because Hamas is operating in a way that puts them in the cross-fire. That holds hostages right in the heart of crowded civilian areas that puts military and placement that’s right in the heart of crowded civilian areas. But every day that we see more innocent people lost is another horrible, awful tragic day. Our hearts in the United States and across the world, break for that, but there is only one answer to stop that from happening going forward. That is a ceasefire and hostage deal that ends the military operations, brings the hostages home and puts us in a position to give the Palestinians and opportunity for a better future for their people.”

Governor Kristi Noem (R-SD) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump’s guilty verdict by a Manhattan jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records was because of a “rigged judicial process.”
Noem said, “Well, his message has clearly been that his only vengeance will be America’s success. He is not interested in going after political opponents. He is interested in going back to the White House and working for the American people and their families, bringing down inflation costs and that’s what I’m hearing overwhelmingly here in Wisconsin.”
She continued, “He’s warned the American people if we start weaponizing the judicial system like they did against him, that it could happen to any president it could happen to any political opponent.”
Noem added, “He wants people to trust our judicial system. He wants to make sure that we still have law and order in this country. If you look at conservative areas of this country, places where Republicans were in control, we have law and order we have peace stability. You go to Democrat states and cities that’s where you see destruction and you see judicial systems and trials and corrupt judges that prosecute their political enemies. That’s what New York was. New York, that was definitely a rigged judicial process against the president. politically motivated.”

By selecting Carson, Trump would keep open his options of whom he might endorse as his successor. It gives him leverage over various key GOP actors. In point of fact, Trump will be a lame duck President. He needs leverage to carry on the MAGA agenda. We have four years to make that decision with Trump's endorsement being key.
The downside of Carson is another "old man" on the ticket, creating the impression of an aging party lacking energy.
I like Vance, but being VP is not the place to take advantage of his energy and intelligence. Trump likes the spotlight and will overshadow Vance. Trump does not want someone who will compete with him in terms of popularity and media coverage. Vance is needed in the Senate. I would love to see him as majority leader, but I recognize that the RINOs will prevent it.
Agree with you about Trump and his stance on Ukraine, China, and Russia. Trump should be the peace candidate and commit to ending the war in Ukraine. The Southern border is the greatest national security threat. Trump should stick to a few key issues where he holds the clear advantage publicly. The Dems will be using social issues like abortion and climate change to distract from those issues that substantively affect the country.
The only way the Dems win is to steal the election again.
Problem there is photos of Trump being jailed will raise millions for the dirty dems.They know it as well.
Ironically, it will raise three or four X for us as it does for them.
