The judge presiding over former President Trump’s New York criminal trial notified his defense team on Friday of a comment on the court's public Facebook page that implies one of the jurors discussed the guilty verdict ahead of time.

The profile for "Michael Anderson" has little publicly available information, but the user identifies himself as a "Transabled & professional sh-- poster."
A Trump campaign official told Fox News Digital they are "investigating the matter."
Al Baker, state OCA spokesperson, said Friday that "as appropriate, the Court informed the parties once it learned of this online content."

A mistrial would get the Dems out of this mess. It would also mean they could bring Trump to trial again later if the election starts to look tight.

Doesn’t “no double jeopardy”/”can’t be tried again for the same offense” apply here?

Breaking News? Isn’t this pretty normal for today’s Democrats. He’s just what Democrat parents want their daughters or sons to bring home.

A case ended by mistrial can be retried. If that happens Merchan should grant a change of venue, but he won't, because he doesn't care about the 6th amendment.
To: WildHighlander57
Thanks I will look. I’m paraphrasing another response or two which said Merchan didn’t find it but was notified of it from another court.

“He seems like a normal Democrat.”
There are no normal Democrats.
Typical. But not normal.

Merchan sent an email to Trump team. The email talks about a FB post.

So at what point in the trial was this said? It was a day before he was found guilty which means the juror was in contact with the cousin during deliberations. So this is the worst time during a trial you can have juror misconduct. The judge didn't sequester the jury, The were free to go to Memorial Day barbeques with family.

Bingo. Trump sitting in the court house for another month or more. And spending his money on lawyers.

allegedly (all over X and such) this is the guy who wrote the FB post:
As far as I can tell there must of been some intial vetting before that Judge would write the letters. There are 10000 trolls out there posting crap all day about the trial, why hang your hat on this one?
I may be in the minority on this but I think they are trying quietly put this case to sleep. They see what it's doing for Trump.
I don't believe Trump could be retried if there were a mistrial. A Jury was seated - if they do it again that's double Jeopardy no?

If he is found not guilty they can’t retry the same charge, but after a mistrial they can retry.

Generally speaking, I don’t believe a mistrial can be declared after a verdict is reached. But of course this is Merchan’s court so he’ll probably just order the facebook post to be deleted.
To: conservative98
Worst case for Trump. The judge question jurors, and decides that the jury reached a verdict on X (any number from 1-33) counts before the juror spoke to her cousin, declares a mistrial on those counts, and enters a final judgment on X counts. That would:
1. Leave Trump a convicted felon,
2. Force Trump to spend time and money on an appeal,
3. Leave Trump facing felony charges in the trial court,
4. Leave Trump under the trial court gag order, and
5. Force Trump to spend time and money on the retrial of the remaining charges, which the judge could schedule before the election.

FOX most definitely is covering this story.
Hannity spent a fair amount of time on his TV show talking about it.
