Since you exhale Carbon dioxide, you are correct. They are already taxing air because of ‘climate change’(™) taxation.

Gas tax is anonymous, mileage tax won't be.
The Left wants to restrict people's movements, no more using fuel for unauthorized fun or other subversive activities.

I had an extended business trip to San Diego. The roads have lots of pot holes and managed to knock my F150 front end out of alignment a few times. It's an expensive thing to ignore when it causes uneven tire wear and "pulling" behavior when driving. I opted to tow a motorcycle from Idaho to San Diego for my daily commutes. Depending on the bike, I achieved 46 MPH to 53 MPH and easily dodged the pot holes. I didn't need another front end alignment once I shifted to using the bike for all local transport and just using the F150 to tow the bike to/from Idaho.

I've made ONE trip back to San Diego since 2017. It was my 50th high school reunion. I used my F150 to make the trip. Local driving in San Diego was limited to the reunion activities. The last tank of gas to fill before returning to Idaho was priced at $6.89/gallon. On arrival back in Idaho, I topped the tank up before heading back to my house. I paid $3.25/gallon for ethanol free regular. Just 24 hours in time and 925 miles of travel separated the two fill ups.

My husband got same - the photo was of a motorcycle crossing the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. My husband has never driven his motorcycle to San Francisco, it was obviously not him.

Took a long time to straighten out - and they even tried to ding him again later with the same photo. I’m guessing they send those out to a lot of people figuring they’ll just pay off the fine to avoid the hassle.

I did not say, but it was the Bay Bridge for me also.

I visit San Francisco a lot (immediate family) and now go all the way around on the Great Highway side to avoid that bridge - and the $12.00 fee to cross into the city.

I have been driving on the same bad roads for decades here in the San Fernando valley near LA.

I noticed using google street view the roads by my parents home in Golden valley, Minnesota are cracked and have been for several years as you can view the past street view history.
I remember seeing the road crew fixing the roads several times when I was a kid and a teenager by laying crushed stone on top of the asphalt. The roads always looked good.
Now cracks everywhere.

Politicians steal the tax money for other projects and hardly use it for what is really needed.
