One neighborhood in East Oakland is so dangerous that construction workers apparently feel unsafe. A construction crew left a residential street unpaved and refused to return because the workers did not feel safe being in the neighborhood.
The situation has left Sobrante Park residents with their street torn up and reduced to gravel with gaping potholes. Resident Shari Angarano said the unfinished road work made bumpy driving conditions on Colorados Drive go from bad to worse.
“The ground is uneven and a lot of the gravel used to fill pot holes is being kicked up,” Angarano said.
The unfortunate situation began in March, when Sobrante Park residents received letters stating Colorados Drive would be repaved.
“They put signs up, did some work,” Angarano told KRON4. The street was prepped by crews for paving. “The signage on the street barriers indicated that the crew would be back on 5/15-5/16 to complete the work,” she said.
But workers abruptly left midway through the project — and never returned.
“I called and the engineer with the City of Oakland said that contractor pulled out because the crews didn’t feel safe,” Angarano said.

So much for the Safe Streets Program.
Just one of the unintended consequences of faithfully voting for the deep state party . . .
Enjoy the suk!
Voting has consequences!
This is my sympathetic face. You might have to look real hard.
drop off some bags of cold patch asphalt and let the residents do the work if they want
Oakland. Crime.
Must be the Amish again.
I can see neighborhood militias forming in the future because of this crap.
Dude, that appears to be the least of your problems.
Reminds me of firefighters in Los Angeles who say pot shots are taken at them when they go into certain parts of the city to fight fires or aid in medical emergencies.
I’d leave the road exactly as it is, 1/2 torn up - let the mayor and her staff - the ones these residents voted for - finish the road.
who is John Galt?
Have you been to Oakland lately?
That would be an improvement.
Just how bad is that particular neighborhood in Oakland, or in Oakland overall? I’ve never been there but I’m thinking some fellow posters here may have or be from there. Im in Michigan and Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Benton Harbor, Muskegon all have bad areas but this sounds a step worse than those.
The democrats have made every large city a kill zone but what the hell they made their money screw you is all they feel.
A quick “drive” down the street with Google Earth indicates a relatively tidy neighborhood of small, ranch-style houses, but every house does indeed have bars on windows and doors, so residents are also clearly fearful of crime
From outer appearances, I’ve seen a lot worse
It is stunning that democrat voters have NO concept of cause & effect.
We had a dog that pretty much never had to go through a cause & effect experience more than twice. Often times only once. Had he possessed opposable thumbs and the power of speech he would have put MANY dumocrat voters to shame.
“That would be an improvement.”
LOL.
I did see the video tour of the homeless camps there last week. It was really shocking.
Doesn’t Oakland have police to protect the workers?
Never mind, the police are afraid to go into that area too.
