The Trump campaign has begun vetting vice presidential contenders for the former president — and several notable names are on his short-list, The Post has learned.
Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Tim Scott (R-SC) have all recently exchanged varying degrees of vetting documents with Trump’s campaign, a source familiar told The Post Wednesday.
As have Reps. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Republican North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and former Trump administration Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, the source said.

A Trump campaign official told The Post that the 77-year-old former president has not settled on who he’ll tap to be on the ticket with him in November — or when he’ll make that decision.
...
Earlier this month, Trump indicated in an interview with News12 that his final decision on a running mate would come “probably not too much before” the start of the Republican National Convention, where he will be formally named the GOP nominee.

Do your homework.
It’s conspicuous and for some reason, I just don’t trust Vivek.
I think a Jewish female pit bull would work well as Trump’s VP.
I also think the female pit bull would be fiercely loyal to Trump if chosen regardless of her past votes in congress. Trump won’t die in 4 years so she would have a lot of time to learn the ropes.
Another silly statement. Do your homework. Furthermore, Trump had no “political experience.” Those who do are the worse legislators and leaders.
That was a joke.
Nice guy… Lightweight.
My Take: Best choice is Burgum. Tim Scott is good but it might be seen a s pandering to blacks. Rubio is good but has baggage, Carson is just too nice—good cabinet pick. We shall see—It must be a truly MAGA Person.
Nailed it.
I have heard that Burgum has pledged $100M of his money if he is the pick. That is Trump’s love language.
That's my take for now anyway.
Ben Carson.
Some of those names will stab him in the back. I hope he realizes that.
Simply pick a bland but well-spoken and loyal “fan” who will bring in a needed demographic.
“He is on track for the worst showing among whites for a Republican presidential candidate in 60 years.”
And you are on track for having the most hideously stupid post in FR history.
I hope Trump understands that he only gets one term and that whomever is his VP will be “heir” to MAGA.
Not with Donalds on the list. I greatly admire him.
Republican North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum
Although I did not believe he should be in the Primary, I have come to like this guy a lot. He lacks the charisma to be elected President but as VP he is a solid Gubernatorial executive to step in if Trump dies. He is conservative
As President Trump mentioned normally a VP pick does not help much in winning elections. But this year is a bit different since being much of the electorate wants to see a new face other than what we have had to choose from in the past.
Then the question would be who could help the most.
The women vote is going to be firmly issue based, safety, choice etc. Hard to see the VP choice making a difference here.
The black vote is stubbornly loyal to the Dems and always seem to be Lucy holding the ball for Republicans.
The Hispanic votes will swing but much like the women vote they are issue orientated.
If the Black vote is ready for a change due to dislike of Biden then Tim Scott or Ben Carson would fit the bill.
The Hispanic vote would be more trusting of the ticket with a Hispanic VP and it could move that population to vote for President Trump.
Rubio is a bit of an establishment candidate but then again you can’t be choosy with your allies at times when your back is up against the wall. It may help consolidate the Republican party as well.
The white male vote is already won the choice will only solidify Presidents Trump current position.
The youth vote would most likely prefer Vivek, but he is not mentioned and I am not sure if he meets President Trumps second condition as being ready to be President.
NOT Rubio! Vance or Carson would be fantastic.
I’d be game for Zeldin
That is WAS state, and WE THE STATE REVOLTED! IT IS STATE-UNCONSTITUTIONAL TO BEGIN WITH. That was under DonTaxQuist/Beth Harwell. Who went on as a Rep help to institute a progressive 2nd state gas tax.
