A Spirit Airlines passenger managed to track down her stolen luggage after it vanished when she arrived at a Florida airport — using one of the stolen items to aid in her desperate search.
Paola Garcia had been waiting for her small pink hardshell luggage, containing several Apple products like her personal MacBook and two Apple Watches, at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s carousel after returning home to the Sunshine State, Local 10 reported.
The exact timing of the incident remains unclear, but Garcia’s desperation to find her stolen property led her to the apparent culprit’s house even before local cops.
Garcia told the outlet she always carried on her luggage without issue, but this time, Spirit Airlines employees made her check the bag before she departed from New York.
She panicked as she watched others grab their bags from the carousel, and her luggage didn’t appear.
“In my mind, I’m thinking I need my computer because I go to the university, I need my computer no matter what,” Garcia told the outlet.
Garcia said she waited “at least two hours” before giving up hope that her luggage would arrive on the conveyor belt.
Spirit Airlines employees told Garcia not to worry and that her luggage would be sent to her house, she told the outlet.
The next day, she began receiving a ping from one of her Apple Watches — except it wasn’t coming from the airport but 15 minutes away at a Fort Lauderdale home.
It was the home of Junior Bazile, who worked in the retail store Paradies Shops at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Local 10.
Determined to get her belongings back, she went to the home, found her suitcase and her things, and immediately called 911.

That happened to my mother, too.
I like it! It brings up visions! :o])
I don’t remember how to post here.
Dee, did you send me an email this month?
I hope everyone is still alive, and well.
:D
We still don’t know how F-I-L is going to react to his new “home” as the transfer was delayed for another day. He was so insistent on leaving to “head north to see his father and mother” that they had to sedate him heavily on Tuesday night, to the point that he did not ‘wake up’ early enough to be considered for release and transfer. It took 4 hospital staff to restrain him until the sedative took effect.
M-I-L told me today at the hospital that she thinks he has got himself stuck in the 1940s based on what he talks about all of the time.
This most recent ‘step down’ has been drastic, we found him walking down the road 3 times during the prior week. It was good that someone happened to be on the road at those times, otherwise we don’t know what would have happened. (Each time he was “headed to Oklahoma” to meet kin.)
It is certainly a real sad situation. For F-I-L, it was like boiling milk: very slowly, then suddenly all at once...
Hello, fanfan! I’m alive and well. I have gotten a couple of emails recently that look like they’re from Monkey Face (using the real-world name), but when I look very closely, the name is spelled wrong.
No Ma’am, I didn’t send you an email. I don’t know how many people that went out to, but whoever sent it is a scammer!
Still, it’s good to hear from you!

Ah! A black cat to start our day and get us in the mood for Hallowe’en and The Day of the Dead!
Good morning.
I hope you had a good night, and I see you were up very early.
I think Carissa is going to come by today. She was going to take me to George, for crackers and breakfast bars, but I have to check my finances. I learned they carry the Sander’s dark chocolate sea salt caramels, so that’s tempting as all get out. But I’ll just ask her to run me to a few places around town.
I’ll call Casey today and see what’s the deal on the Raisin.
Lots of dreams last night and they were strange, again. Some were with people who are not around any more and some were with people who were trying to argue with me. There was lots of pretty vistas to enjoy, so that was good. I felt beaten up when I opened my eyes this morning.
It’s 57° this morning, so the doors are open again. With that big window in the living room, that’s the hottest room in the place, since it faces south. So with the doors open, it cools off a little. Only 87° for a suspected high today. *sigh*
Good morning. Happy Friday Eve!
I’m thinking of mainlining caffeine. These owrk days can be brutal.
Mrs. ArGee and her brother interviewed a few more home health aids. I think they’re ready to start setting up a schedule. Of course, F-I-L went into “it’s my house and I’ll decide if I need help” yesterday. This is probably driven by M-I-L who has not been happy about having these strangers in her home. We’ll keep explaining to him that he’ll lose his house if he doesn’t accept the help. Maybe it will eventually sink in.
The only thing I can say for today’s Wordle is “well shut my mouth!”

In the bigger towns and cities, they have a “Silver Alert” for those older people who have “gone walkabout” and all the police, taxis, bus lines, etc., are notified and will be on the lookout for that person. I don’t know what kind of an area you live in but it sounds like he needs 24-hour care, and that’s unrealistic when he lives at home.
I wish you all the best, because it sounds like he needs 24-hour protection. Bless his heart. I don’t think you ever mentioned how long he’s had dementia, but it sounds like it’s pretty well progressed. That’s got to be difficult to live with for everyone.
(As an aside, I’m glad they no longer call it “senile.” That’s such a blanket word that doesn’t begin to convey what the condition does to the family.)
Good Friday Eve morning.
Caffeine sounds good at this hour! Not to mention there is a breeze coming in the back door that would probably feel pretty good if I were dressed for it. That and a cup of coffee and I’ll be right as rain!
Good luck with your in-Laws, as usual. Reading about your Adventures With Dad-in-Law reminds me of when my brother had Lewey Body Dementia. His decline was rapid but as quickly as that happened, his bodily functions went right along with his mind. My S-i-L was his only caregiver, and it literally wore her out. I’m glad you don’t have to deal with that.
I will, of course, keep you all in my prayers.
Glad to hear it! I hope all the kids are well.
Yes, it seemed suspect, so I rediscovered my Freep password, in order to check.
I hope everything is good with you. :)
Yes, they are, actually! It’s been a long time since I’ve even seen you on here, so this is a pleasant surprise.
I’ve moved (twice, I think) since you were here on the forum last, but the last move was a good move, so I’m happy.
I was in CO for a few days with my daughter and then my brother, but was very glad to get back home to my rescue kitty who ignores me with finesse!
What about you? How are things on your end? I hope you’ve all recovered from the effects of Covid.
Prayers are always appreciated. Thank you.
Great job on the Wordle!
I hope to get to it later…
Until this sudden drop off, we were encountering that same resistance to having people come in to help…. Now it moved right past that stage…
I would say that it started being noticeable about 4 years ago…. Been over 2 years that he has not been able to venture out on his own…
But it was a very gradual decline until the past two weeks…. right off the cliff….
Ugh, moving is horrible, and you did it twice? I’m glad to hear that you like the place you’re at now.
Are you still in living in Nevada?
Last year we finally sold our place in Ottawa after 28 years, and moved close to the St.Lawrence Seaway, so now we can see NY State from the beach.
Our son lives down here, with his wife and 4 kids, with another 2 due in December, and our daughter moved down last month, with her hubby and their 2 kids. it’s nice having everyone so close.
And I got chickens. :)
