Spirit Airlines flyer tracks down her stolen luggage to airport employee’s Florida house with her pinging Apple Watch

A Spirit Airlines passenger managed to track down her stolen luggage after it vanished when she arrived at a Florida airport — using one of the stolen items to aid in her desperate search.

Paola Garcia had been waiting for her small pink hardshell luggage, containing several Apple products like her personal MacBook and two Apple Watches, at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s carousel after returning home to the Sunshine State, Local 10 reported.

The exact timing of the incident remains unclear, but Garcia’s desperation to find her stolen property led her to the apparent culprit’s house even before local cops.

Garcia told the outlet she always carried on her luggage without issue, but this time, Spirit Airlines employees made her check the bag before she departed from New York.

She panicked as she watched others grab their bags from the carousel, and her luggage didn’t appear.

“In my mind, I’m thinking I need my computer because I go to the university, I need my computer no matter what,” Garcia told the outlet.

Garcia said she waited “at least two hours” before giving up hope that her luggage would arrive on the conveyor belt.

Spirit Airlines employees told Garcia not to worry and that her luggage would be sent to her house, she told the outlet.

The next day, she began receiving a ping from one of her Apple Watches — except it wasn’t coming from the airport but 15 minutes away at a Fort Lauderdale home.

It was the home of Junior Bazile, who worked in the retail store Paradies Shops at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Local 10.

Determined to get her belongings back, she went to the home, found her suitcase and her things, and immediately called 911.

Laid back kitty wants a tummy rub.

Good morning. I hope you had a good night’s sleep in your own bed, and that Jake wasn’t too demanding.

I finally manage to sleep all night but as usual, it was because I was exhausted.

I went to put in a Walmart order for pickup, as I had a couple of errands to run this morning, and their Fraud Team canceled it “due to unusual activity.” One order a week is unusual activity?? *face palm*

I’m glad I have actual grocery lists, or I’d be in real trouble. I’ll try again, but they made the whole thing worse by making me change my password. Unngh.

:mutters: (today of all days)

And they canceled it again! So I will have to take time out from my already busy day and go to Walmart.

On second thought, I’ll do it first thing tomorrow. I’ll even set my alarm for 0500 so I don’t have to deal with Saturday Shoppers.

What a revoltin’ development this is. :o|

Good morning. Happy Friday!

I’m a little late reporting in today. Owrk started early. I have to set up the email campaigns for the rest of the batches before EOD.

The Princess’ lab results came back as if the good results never happened, which is weird (with apologies to the MSM). I would have expected them to start creeping back up, not jump back to where they were. Of course, the vet wants to go straight to medication again. We’re going to look at food changes, first. We have lots of control since we make her food now.

Another trey on Wordle. It’s too late now but maybe we should have done our own Wordle Olympics. But then, who’d have wanted to be tied to that opening ceremony? So I guess we did the right thng.

Wordle 1,140 3/6*

I doubt Walmart actually flagged that. I suspect your credit card company or bank flagged it to Walmart. As long as your payment processes OK Walmart could care less about whether you bought your normal amount or splurged on a super-Christmas or what have you.

It’s a Friday, but I’ll reserve the status for a later time.

It must have been an awful shock to you to see The Princess Dog’s numbers jump back up. As sick as she was the last time the medication was administered, I don’t think I’d be overjoyed to have her back on it. If you and Mrs ArGee are able to control the worst of the symptoms with changes in her diet, then I don’t blame you a bit for trying.

Good luck to you, and may the sweet Princess live long and without too many or too severe symptoms!

I would have believed that if it just happened once, but twice?

Anyway, there was a response email address on the latest email notice from them, so I used it. I basically told them I was a shut-in and due to a back injury 18 months ago, I couldn’t stand up long enough to shop. I don’t know how long before I hear from them, but we’ll see.

Anyway, thanks for the information. The last time I tried to use a card and had it declined it WAS fraud. But in this case, I had just made a purchase on the card not 15 minutes before, so if it was going to be flagged, it would have been then. At least to my way of thinking. I mean, that’s what seems logical to me, anyway. But what do I know about things like that? I’m not into high finance!

It’s not about high finance, but malicious behvior.

IF someone had stolen your number, they would probably try to make a lot of purchases rapidly before your card company found out and stopped them.

So this flag may have been because of two purchases so close together.

When that happens to me I usually get a text from my bank asking if it was me and telling me I can try again..

I often make two purchases close together, especially on payday, and normally, I’d say what you just said was logical. When my bank card was hacked, there were two purchases for under $5 each. I’m thinking it was to see if the account was valid. It was another week before I tried to use the card at the grocery store, and it was declined.

We stopped at the bank on the way home to ask why, and they snatched my card saying it had been hacked. A long time ago (20 years?) I saw a purchase on my bank card for $50, and immediately went to the bank to contest it. It took them a few days, but the purchase was “Eastern European.”

Nothing like that has happened since, but the bank card was the second card to be hacked in six weeks. I’ll try again in the morning, and if they still refuse my card, I’ll cry. Not really. That just makes my nose run. But I’ll contact the card owner and see what they say. They may want to issue me a new one.
