Interesting that people willingly pay more to live in HOA communities ...

I live in a benign HOA whose only purpose is to maintain the storm water detention basins, maintain the trail through the adjacent woods, and pay the property taxes on those common areas. They also have a set of basic rules that just prevent you from letting your home look like the suburban ghetto subdivision on the other side of town.

The HOA fees are less than $100 — a YEAR.

Homes in this subdivision are selling for at least 30% more than the ones on the other side of town where real estate listings include prominent bragging that there’s “No HOA!” there.
