President Biden is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday that would give the White House additional authority to limit the flow of migrants across the southern border, sources confirmed to The Hill.
The order would allow border officials to turn away migrants at the southern border once crossings surpass a certain number, an official said.
The Associated Press reported the order would shut down the border after 2,500 daily encounters, and the border would reopen once the number of encounters drops below 1,500.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

So, the limit on illegal immigration is now 900,000 a year.
Biden is expected to sign an order that will give the White House more authority... to control the spigot of illegal immigration... but not shut it off.
So... he is admitting he has the authority to limit it... he has the authority to end it... and he won’t.
They have enough new voters for now.
If an opposing party proposed this they’d immediately be attacked as hate-filled racist anti-immigration bigots.
So much to (continue to) be angry about here:
“Encounters” — where? At official crossing locations? Are ALL border agents supposed to be able to compare notes on a minute-by-minute basis and be able to instantly declare “open” or “closed”? What about unofficial crossing places?
“Re-open” — I truly don’t understand the “encounters fall below 1,500” thing. That just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever since anyone actually denied the ability to cross over isn’t going to simply turn around and go home.
Overall: clearly, the proper number is “zero” illegal crossings per day. How is any of this acceptable? Do they think we’re that naive? (I guess so).

If you want to control entry into the USA then only allow those with valid visas to enter at a legal entry point. Anyone else gets immediate deportation. Then again when has this administration ever followed the law.
I guess common sense is not a skill set possessed by Democrats.
Unfortunately, Biden’s policies make all the people who come through at border entrance points legal by giving them an asylum claim document that says ….. please show up in a few years at an immigration office.
Dems only want to process (mostly dishonest) asylum claimants into the country faster without having any visuals of crowded entry points. They do not care what happens to the United States of America. It is outrageous and disgusting.

there will be less than 1,500 encounters the next day!
