I've read that it's very difficult to renounce one's US citizenship....there are many oops through which you must jump. That may,or may not,be true with other countries.

It is all very simple, either renounce foreign citizen or US citizenship. I guess a law requiring disclosure is a start. No elected official should ever be allowed to also be a foreign citizen. And any working directly or indirectly for the US government should register as foreign agents.

It’s not xenophobic. Citizenship is determined by each country’s laws and policies. If you have two British parents but are born in the US and they register your birth with the British government, you are still considered British by the UK government. It’s very difficult to lose your British citizenship as a natural born Brit. He is an American, but also a Brit. Nothing he can do about it.

But nothing wrong with disclosing it, either. Everybody here has a lineage that came from somewhere else. For many that connection as “citizen” is lost but they are still proud of their ethnicity e.g. Irish, Italians, Koreans etc even generations later. They may or may not be able to go claim the citizenship; depends on whether their country will allow it and if they can document it. A 3rd or 4th generation Italian American may have no interest or connection to Italy and may not want Italian citizenship, nor does Italy likely recognize that person as Italian. But they could theoretically obtain citizenship through process. In this case no disclosure required. Someone who was registered, or claims another citizenship, should disclose it if they run for Congress.

Not that it will matter much. If you’re corrupt you’re corrupt. You may not get assignments regarding Italy but just give those to your Turkish friend and trade the graft.

When George Shultz was Reagan’s Secretary of State, he would interview every new ambassador in his Foggy Bottom office.

Shultz kept a large globe in his office, and he would begin by asking the new ambassador to find his country on the globe. The ambassador would turn the globe to his new ambassadorship location and put his finger “Here”.

“Wrong”, said Shultz, and turned the globe back to the United States. “This is your country”.

Officially, thought every single human being in the Counselor systems database is known with a single queery. Additionally, that database is linked worldwide with Interpol and other agencies. Everyone who is dual citizen has two passports in the system and both are referenced.

What great story. The 7th floors have never been the same since. With a modem installed to circumvent State’s Network as a condiut between Huma’s laptop and the Clinton foundation, ever Information Resources Management and Diplomatic Security have been compromised.

Mehmet Oz ran for Pennsylvania Senator while voting in elections in Turkey.

Let that sink in.

A popular misconception is that because he was born in the British West Indies, Alexander Hamilton could not legally have become president. That’s not the case. The Constitution states that to become president, a person must be either a natural-born citizen or a citizen of the United States at the time of the Constitution’s adoption, which Hamilton certainly was. In fact, the first seven U.S. presidents were born British citizens. Martin Van Buren, born in 1782, was the first to be born an American citizen.
