spaceship was dramatically aborted Saturday with just minutes left on the countdown clock, yet another setback for a program that has faced years of delays.
With the astronauts strapped in and ready for liftoff, the test mission to the International Space Station was unexpectedly halted due to reasons that aren't yet clear.
United Launch Alliance, responsible for the Atlas V rocket that Starliner sits atop, is now investigating why an "automatic hold" was triggered by its computer with three minutes and 50 seconds to go.
ULA CEO Tory Bruno told reporters that engineers were currently de-fueling the rocket to enable physical access to the ground computer, allowing them to pinpoint the source of the fault, which might be a malfunctioning circuit board or power supply unit.

If there is ever an American on the moon again, it will be a scientist invited by the Chinese. If we still have any scientists worth taking to the moon.
At this point, Elon Musk’s Space X has lapped Boeing several times over.
“If its Boeing, it ain’t going”
I was just going to say, it would be nice to have an alternative to Musk’s operation, just for the sake of competition, I don’t have anything (much) against Musk.
Meanwhile, earlier in the same day, Musk was Twitter congratulating SpaceX for another successful launch of a batch of satellites for Starlink and a successful landing of the booster on a drone ship offshore. I think Musk also said that was the 14th or 15th successful launch this year, SpaceX is averaging more than 2 launches per month.
Shoot Space X has had about 40 launches this year, will probably pass 100 this year!
Worth reading. It is amazing that Musk knows how to hire the best, smartest, most can-do people (in spite of government roadblocks} while other organizations cannot do that. It took a South African not steeped in the toxic stew of American liberalism.
Our inability to build is inversely proportional to the growth of government. Big gov ruined education, promoted useless “studies” degrees by taking over student loans, and let Big Environment use lawfare to stop every big, audacious project.
This has seriously (and negatively) affected our ability to survive, much less prosper.
SpaceX is not only running laps around NASA, but they’re also running laps around the rest of the world, China included.
I figured because of the cost savings, NASA or other countries would figure out how to land their boosters safely back on earth and reuse them, it must be technically really difficult to do, considering no one else has duplicated it.
I watched and it was so scripted they forgot to tell people watching it was scrubbed ,LOL
The only way you’d get me on that craft is in an urn.
Starliner is a cut corner piece of junk.
Two launches a month would be a great cadence 10 years ago.
What Elon Musk was congratulating his team on was the 14th successful Falcon 9 launch this month! SpaceX is knocking out these missions almost every other day.
That isn't just a matter of launch site operations. For every mission they need to manufacture a (non-reusable) 2nd stage rocket, inspect and refurbish a landed first stage, and run the landing barge operations: sending it out empty, and bringing it back with a hot landed sky-scraper-tall first stage.
It's really all quite amazing, and why I have faith Elon will make Starship work.
I knew I had some of the facts incorrect.
America is still the land of opportunity (for now) even though we're woke.
14th or 15th for that booster. They’ve launched a lot more than that this year.
SpaceX has ALREADY launched astronauts to the ISS and returned them all safely to Earth, MULTIPLE TIMES!
SPACEX JUNKIE ALERT:
The most powerful and tallest rocket known to man, the STARSHIP SUPERHEAVY is set to launch NEXT WEEK, perhaps Wednesday or shortly thereafter! This will be the FOURTH test launch of the behemoth rocket where the Starship flies to Hawaii offshore and the booster lands in the gulf.
Meanwhile, the Chinese have literally planted their flag on the far side of the moon. Unmanned probe.

Twice.
the Starship flies to Hawaii offshore and the booster lands in the gulf.
—
StarShip Flight 4 is set to ‘land’ in the Indian Ocean off of Indonesia.
It was the 14th successful launch in May!
I don’t know, I heard they hired the same people who engineered the pier in Gaza. /s
