I like that you appropriately blame Disney. I do that as well. Many people rarely interact with the natural world, and they take their cues on how to do so from Disney, with all those friendly anthropomorphized critters. I remember watching Wild Kingdom as a kid, and they showed the real deal of critters attacking and eating other critters.
Wasn’t there a case a few years back where a dingo dragged a baby away and the mother was accused of murder instead? Tragic tale.
That was many years back. Like decades
Elaine: “Maybe a dingo ate your baby.”
I am Vietnam Era. Time means little to me.
I think that was also in Australia
I was never out when their pack rolled into town around midnight, howling like the Dickens, and all the dogs went bat-sh!t crazy barking at them. Didn’t want to get bit. If it’s the name of a rock group, that would explain a lot.
Wild Kingdom was sanitized for TV. No blood and gore.
Is jackal hunting allowed in Israel?
It’s a hard rock band from Acworth, Georgia and were popular in the mid-1990s.

“Apparently, the jackal dragged the child a few meters before releasing him”.
It would seem to me the child would be bellowing his bloody lungs out upon being grabbed, the mom couldn’t hear that a few meters away?
I guess better a jackal than...
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0094924/
It was turned into a movie in 1988....A Cry in the Dark.
My comment was to be something else until I noticed that the article fails to cite “baby boy” or “baby girl”...
Now I’m just totally smh.
I am too, hard to believe it was over 50 years ago.. Also a Edward Abbey fan.
No idea. They just howl up a storm, is all I know. Dogs don’t like them.
