Trump won’t lose his right to vote unless Judge Merchan locks him up
Washington Times ^ | Saturday, June 1, 2024 | Alex Swoyer

Although Mr. Trump was convicted in New York, he’s a Florida resident residing at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.

“Florida defers to other state laws when it comes to disenfranchising voters who are tried and convicted elsewhere. … [In New York], those convicted of felonies who do not go to prison never lose their voting rights,” said Blair Bowie, director of the Campaign Legal Center’s Restore Your Vote project.

The only way Mr. Trump wouldn’t be able to vote is if New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan sends him to jail for his conviction. Sentencing is set for July 11.

The former president faces jail time or probation.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday vowed to back Mr. Trump, saying the former president “hasn’t lost his voting rights in Florida.”

“Rights are not removed in Florida where they haven’t yet been stripped in the convicting jurisdiction. That said, given the absurd nature of the New York prosecution of Trump, this would be an easy case to qualify for restoration of rights per the Florida Clemency Board, which I chair,” Mr. DeSantis said in a post on X.

He added, “The bottom line is that Donald Trump’s vote this November will be one of millions that demonstrate Florida is now a solid Republican state!”

On Thursday, a 12-member jury in New York found Mr. Trump guilty on 34 felony counts for falsifying business records, reportedly documenting money paid to Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election as “legal fees” to keep her quiet about an alleged affair from a decade before.

His former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid the porn actress $130,000 not to talk to the press about the affair, which Mr. Trump denies having.

I expect the judge will issue jail time, but that at some point Biden will issue a pardon in an effort to appear magnanimous. And it will all be arranged beforehand.

Trump is convicted of 34 state felonies. Biden can only pardon Trump of federal crimes.

That’s why I think trump should have testified. He could have answered those questions and added to the facts. Biggest mistake he made during the trial.

The American people want justice and president DJT should use the endless resources of the government when in position to form a commission to go after and prosecute all of these parasites

It’s a florida issue, since President Trump is a Florida citizen, and Governor Desantis just stated that the President will not lose his vote in Florida.

Trump is possibly the only man in America with the dynamic genius to correct Obozo/Biden and Soros’ destruction of America.

Chief Justice Roberts will need to step up and notify the world publicly that he welcomes a direct appeal, by President Trump’s legal team, of the New York verdict against President Trump.

Roberts needs to do so immediately. Today.

Or the judge would have sustained the objection to that testimony and evidence, it would not come in, and then Trump would be subject to all kinds of nasty cross-examination. Trump taking the stand would certainly not have changed the predetermined outcome.

The more Trump treats this courts “decisions” as if they are legitimate the weaker his case becomes. Think about the calculation that goes into bowing before liars and schemers. How long does this go on and why?

“That’s why I think trump should have testified. He could have answered those questions and added to the facts. Biggest mistake he made during the trial.”

It wouldn’t have mattered and the lying left would have just added perjury to the other trumped up charges.

Uhh.... you talking about the same obviously compromised Chief Justice Roberts that arbitrarily chose to save Obamacare for the Marxists by pulling a twisted “legal” interpretation out of his ....

nevermind.

“How many Presidential elections have you won?“

Trump won the last one but he ain’t in office now. History is full of leaders who would have addressed that theft in real time. Ok Trump didn’t. Now a TOTALLY illegitimate “court” has found him “guilty” and Trump is treating it like it has a leg to stand on. He continues to back up. Ok. Hence my question . What’s the plan here? Where is this going? The appeals court will not help Trump and the election in November will come out as the last one did. And this is all directly because everyone is backing up before these monsters. Trump put himself in a Leadership position and at some point he’s gonna have to lead where he doesn’t want to go.

Why Stalin? Standing up for one’s rights and against an attack on law and order is Stalinesq to you? Ok.

You equate with Stalin a man, Donald Trump, who standing up against a wrong has had brought to bear against him by the government by the media by the intelligence agencies by the courts of his own constitutional Republic, every evil tactic ever birthed by Stalin and the evil empire… and you think someone somewhere is less intelligent than YOU? Shove your ad hominem bullshit and try actually answering sometime.

True - Roberts isn’t a good or realistic option, but options are limited.
