Salem Apologizes, Retracts Dinesh D’Souza’s Debunked Election Fraud Movie ‘2000 Mules’

Dinesh D’Souza’s movie that sought to prove former President Donald Trump’s fantasy that the 2020 election was stolen from him by widespread fraud has been debunked time and time again. Now, years after its release, its executive producer is retracting the film entirely.

Following the 2020 election, D’Souza released 2000 Mules as an attempt to justify Trump’s loss to President Joe Biden. Trump famously held a screening of the movie at his Mar-a-Lago estate and MAGA supporters promoted the film during it’s release in May 2022.

The film was produced by Salem Media Group, a conservative radio juggernaut that airs the likes of Sebastian Gorka and Charlie Kirk.

In a new statement, Salem apologized for the film and said it would cease distributing it. The move came after a man featured in the movie sued Salem for defamation.

The movie featured video showing the man, Mark Andrews, putting five ballots in a drop box in Lawrenceville, Georgia in 2020. D’Souza falsely claimed in the film that Andrews’ actions were criminal, describing the votes as “fraudulent.”

The statement from Salem blamed D’Souza for the smear.

“In publishing the film and the book, we relied on representations made to us by Dinesh D’Souza and True the Vote, Inc. (‘TTV’) that the individuals depicted in the videos provided to us by TTV, including Mr. Andrews, illegally deposited ballots,” the company said in a statement. “We have learned that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has cleared Mr. Andrews of illegal voting activity in connection with the event depicted in 2000 Mules.”

Why would anyone debunk the debunkers? It would be like having a conversation with you. But I will humor you on this for what it is worth, which won't be much.

From one of your favorite sources, FactCheck.org: Evidence Gaps in ‘2000 Mules’

"...Aaron Striegel, a professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Notre Dame who has analyzed data from smartphones, told us the geotracking data used by True the Vote are just not accurate enough to reach the kind of definitive conclusions it did.

“Could it have happened? Yeah, it could have happened,” Striegel said. “But is it likely to have happened? Not really. The data could tell you it’s possible, but that’s all it’s telling you with any reasonable certainty.”

Cooper Quintin, a senior staff technologist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which describes itself as “the leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world,” told us the accuracy of geolocation data can vary widely based on numerous factors that include signal strength, the type of cellphone being used, and atmospheric conditions like whether the cellphone is in a dense urban area or not.

But generally, he said, GPS data from apps on cellphones are only accurate to around 40 feet. Research published by the University of Georgia in 2019 concluded that iPhone GPS was only accurate in a range of 7 to 13 meters (23 to 43 feet).

“That’s not accurate enough to tell if someone stopped at a ballot box, or if someone simply walked near the box,” Quintin said. “If it is a high-traffic area, I can think of any number of legitimate reasons why someone would be in the vicinity of a ballot box.”

Delivery drivers, poll workers, election officials — all might have reason to be in the vicinity of numerous drop boxes, he said. Certainly, he said, it doesn’t provide enough evidence to uphold the group’s claims about 2,000 mules, he said. And, he noted, “they have the burden of proof.”

And that is one of the "debunkings" you are ignornant of, which surprises me , because sites like Factcheck.org and Mediaite (Not to mention Reuters, NYT, and Washington Post) appear to be your favorites. I am surprised I don't see Rolling Stone or Politico in there.

Point is, GPS data is far, far more accurate than 40 feet, which is considered accurate enough to convict people and put them in jail.

But carrying on discourse like this with the likes of you is a losing proposition, because there will never be any level of proof good enough for anything if you have an emotional attachment to a contrary view, which you clearly do.

The ballots of the individuals Andrews claimed to have submitted were not found to have been submitted in a different way from his account.

Your claim of the above is substantially different than your claim the ballots were turned in at the "same time" as his ballot. The above claim is much more general.

You need to have a written argument making specific assertions with specific people quoted for it to be legitimate in court.

Yeah, we just found out what EVERY "court" in the United States of Banana is.

Yes.

Anyone who keeps using Mediaite and Reuters as primary sources doesn’t necessarily have a screw loose, but is most certainly either an ideologue or a dumb sheep.

Or a troll.

Debunked by the left simply means that they don’t like whatever

The movie is solid on evidence, the left says it wants and expects the sheep to just fall in

It needs to be understood that many women don’t take their birth control pills on time.

“The pill” has a high real world failure rate. Many failures result in abortions.

I prefer to say Joe Biden became President because of illegality.

Student loan voter bribery was a greater factor than election fraud.

humm. i’d say, based on my experience, that Salem is the ‘controlled opposition.’ frankly, i’ve never trusted Salem for anything spiritual or secular.

i know that election ‘mules’ are real, apart from all the other evidence (undercover reporting like James O’Keeffe and True the Vote, video, surveys, dozens of registration forms at the same address, etc), not the least because i’ve seen them with my own eyes doing their thing when i was an observer. so that’s not even an issue with me. election was stolen, no if’s ands or but’s, mules of various kinds are just one dimension of a many headed hydra.

but, for my comment on this thread, i’d like to point out that this post is suspiciously organized as a classic false flag opposition report ala saul alinsky. it’s supposedly posted on FR by someone on our side (hopefully), but it’s using the tactics of the enemy.

1. unsupported ad hominem attack—select the target.

D’Souza is controlled opposition by the deep state.

...this fool...

2. isolate the target:

He’s discrediting conservative Christians....

3. change the subject or misdirection:

Conservatives should be focusing on pro-life...

...whining about 2020 when regular people don’t want to hear...

4. discredit the target by falsely or tangentially enlisting other trusted authorities or trusted sources against it as opposing the target:

True the Vote has moved on from 2020....

Salem Media has retracted 2000 Mules...

5. no attempt to get the other side from the target.

so, imho, this for whatever reason follows the textbook leftist tactics for isolating and destroying an enemy target.

just pointing it out. maybe i’m wrong. you generally don’t see this kind of argument from a friend, but you see it from our enemies every time.

Law fare at work. Look for any way to attack and hang on bulldog tight. Even if he did legally cast those votes that doesn’t mean all the others cast were.

Only a fool or tool believe the election was not stolen.
