Long before Donald Trump's hush-money trial concluded, I predicted that his conviction was a forgone conclusion – despite the obvious weakness of the case against him.
Had the prosecution been brought in another part of the country, or even in another part of New York State, which was more fairly balanced with anti and pro-Trump voters, I am in little doubt that the outcome would have been different.
But instead, on Thursday, Trump became the first former president to be found guilty of a crime – convicted on all 34 flimsy counts of 'falsifying business records.'

Cohen said that he billed the payment as legal services. Unless you believe he was lying about that, that means that they recorded as legal fees payments they believed to be legal fees.
Why wasn’t Trump’s accountant Weisselberg called? He’s already in prison. It would be easy to get him to testify. What would he have said that they didn’t want the jurors to hear?
If, as the cult alleges, the underlying crime was illegal election payments, then why did Merchan disallow testimony from a leading expert on election law, a former chairman of the FEC? Obviously, because he would have testified that (for at lest two reasons) Trump’s payments were not illegal under the campaign law Bragg was misusing.
And the jurors were doxxed. a dangerous, if imlicit, threat.
Even David Boies said the prosecution was questionable, along with Dershowitz, Turley, McCarthy and other credible, nonpartisan legal experts.
But the Democrat cult is so blinded by their objective HATE for the man that they’ve been trying to do this since he came down that escalator.
Plenty of reversible error (or deliberate error) here. But the Democult is acting like it’s party time. Shameful. #TheyCallItCompassion
First stop: “the first former president to be found guilty of a crime...”
Next stop: “the first former president to be sentenced to prison...”
Why? Because they can’t help themselves. They don’t know HOW to stop...
But seriously, thanks.
I said the same thing on a thread last night. Even if Dershowitz had represented Trump in NY, he still would have been convicted. I don't remember Dershowitz making any comments during the trial that Trump's lawyers were not performing well, or what they should be doing. In fact, in one of his interviews, he was giving Bragg advice on how to proceed with the case:
Alvin Bragg Should Follow Key 'Roadmap' in Trump Trial: Alan Dershowitz
Dersh doesn’t know what this out-of-control “judge” will do.
‘Falsifying business records.’
Joe Biden grins Hunter winks loads pipe.
What? Don't you remember the book Black like I?
I’ve been following this since the beginning. He was in trouble when Hope Hicks took the stand.
And the ridiculous jury instructions.
bingo, thanks
If, after Merchan overruled every important defense objection so far, why would he start sustaining them?
Merchan wouldn't have been able to handle the criticism from the media, etc., if he had sustained any of the defense's objections, so he overruled them instead.
Or he was in the media’s ideological boat anyway.
Dershowitz believes the lawyers only worried about the trial, ignoring the need to also focus on issues needed for an appeal.
The rest of us knew the moment the indictment was announced. D. is a little slow on the up take.
For example let us assume that traffic tickets are a felony. A felony needs a conviction that is unanimous i.e. all 12 jurors.
One day Trump was out driving and ran a red light, sped over the speed limit, and failed to use a turn signal. Three crimes and the jurors did not have twelve conviction votes on any of the crimes but did have 12 votes in total considering all the alleged allegations. Presto! It is now unanimous and Trump is now guilty.
Trump has the financial ability to fight in court. The ordinary citizen does not. Against a tyrannical government in court we are helpless. They will use it against the ordinary citizen if they have power.
Biden is correct when he says democracy is at stake. But he is the enemy of democracy and constitutional law, not Trump.
I’m thinking he gets 12 months house arrest. What the conditions are will be interesting? With house arrest will be be allowed to let in the media and his campaign managers?
I’m thinking he gets 12 months house arrest
As long as the house is at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
