Moderate GOP Susan Collins Criticizes ‘Political Underpinnings’ of Trump Trial, Expects ‘Protracted Appeals Process’
Breitbart ^ | 05/30/2024 | KRISTINA WONG

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), a moderate who has split with former President Donald Trump in the past, joined the ranks of his supporters Wednesday after the jury in the Manhattan business records trial returned a guilty verdict.

She said in a statement:

It is fundamental to our American system of justice that the government prosecutes cases because of alleged criminal conduct regardless of who the defendant happens to be. In this case the opposite has happened. The district attorney, who campaigned on a promise to prosecute Donald Trump, brought these charges precisely because of who the defendant was rather than because of any specified criminal conduct. The political underpinnings of this case further blur the lines between the judicial system and the electoral system, and this verdict likely will be the subject of a protracted appeals process.

” ... and this verdict likely will be the subject of a protracted appeals process.”

Which is what she hopes happens. Collins can feign support while hoping that the appeals process kneecaps Trump, leading to 4 more Biden chaos years.

Yup ... they’re (RINOs) all feigning support, now.

Has McConnell weighed in yet on the conviction?

Let me translate - The Dems have gone nuclear using the levers of government at all levels as political lawfare which has instantaneously sunk our country to Third World status never to recover - nice job Dems.

It’s important to realize that we are on our own. Our “side” does not like us, and will not stand up for us. There are only a handful of Republican politicians that are worth anything.

In the bigger picture, I have no idea what we can do? The politicians we elect are like the aides that Trump brought in during his term as president. They say the right things, only to betray us.

One of the good times to have a squish on your side. It’s a snowball effect. Imagine Romney, Flake & Paul Ryan having to side with the American ideals of justice over their hatred for Trump. It’s a nice to have. BtW, i don’t expect any of those pukes to weigh in positively.

(Sarcasm alert) Trump must be punished no matter what, no matter how. He committed the most heinous crime imaginable against America. Contrary to everyone’s expectations, He defeated the most intelligent woman in the world and robbed us of her infinite wisdom, benevolence and leadership. He made her supporters cry on election night and he must be destroyed for that.

He has and considering the rats just railroaded the Republican presidential candidate and he is the Senate majority leader his reaction of support was the bare minimum

Trump is uniting the party.

The #NeverTrump Republicans over at the National Review and Commentary Magazine all agree that this trial is a total sham and a farce, even as they concede that they're not supporters of Trump.

You think Merchan was bad. Take a look at Trump’s DEI hanging crew that awaits him on the first step of appeal in New York City, all black woman Democrat judge 1st Judicial appellate court. 96% of black women voted for the other guy last election. That’s why his team needs to consider Levin’s suggestion of trying to circumvent the NYS appellate system and apply for writ of certiorari directly with the US Supreme Court to review it

Agree.
