IMHO, criminal defense lawyers tended to be the weakest kind of lawyer. Most of them specialize in plea bargains, and few want to fight for their client at the risk of annoying the judge. The judge will remember an attorney who is a PITA in the next case before that judge. In this case the witnesses against a POTUS were a convicted perjurer and a porn star/prostitute. I would fire the lawyers just because of that. Dunno if the expert witness needed to testify on the law, because it is the law, not a fact in the case.

Lawyers aren’t going to be interested. The Corrupt system is the issue.
That’s not what Dershowitz is saying at all. He isn’t say they did a bad job at trial, he is saying they did not properly preserve issues for appeal. I have no idea if that is right or not.

I agree. He’s an effective Trump ‘legal’ supporter, but, he’s been contradicted by many experts regarding the ‘preservation’ of appeal related products during the trial.
Didn’t Merchan do a pretty good job of preserving a record for Trump’s lawyers to use for an appeal by making so many glaring appealable mistakes in running the trial?

I think you are right... I don’t think any lawyer would have been able to get anywhere with this judge!!
In many cases, a defendant hires attorneys that specialize in appeals, and don't stay with the lawyers that defended him in the trial.
