Years ago, one would often read articles or view documentaries on the sugar industry and how much influence their lobbyists had in DC. Those people were finally silenced and I seldom see anyone mention the sugar industry at all.

Check out the ingredients on any food product you purchase. Look at the amount of added sugar to everything. There is no need for that much sugar to be added to food products. If it is not listed as sugar then it is fructose (same thing). I’m not sure what all they are doing to our food, but I’ve noticed even the fresh vegetables and fruit I purchase have had SOMETHING done to them. Apples no longer taste like apples. Peaches no longer taste like peaches. I believe our food is making us sicker and sicker.

The reason they have to add sugar is because the food has been denatured, where there is little nutritional value other than as a source of carbohydrates.

Hoping not to be too picky, my FRiend, however yes and no.

Sugar, as we generally know it, is a disaccharide, a composition of fructose and glucose.

Fructose, however, is a simple, monosaccharide.

Fructose in small quantities, say half an apple, is not generally a huge deal.

However when concentrated as high fructose corn syrup, it's a major glycemic slug, and demands more from your pancreas (to control blood "sugar") than natural foods typically do.

“Apples no longer taste like apples.”

They certainly do around here (eastern Washington State — known for apple production). In fact, glorious new variants coming out all the time like Cosmic Crisp™.

I think it’s you.

They even add sugar to pre-made tuna salad in the supermarket...a lot of it.

A good reason to visit local farms stands.

I make my own preserves, which are mostly fruit by far, and just enough sugar to cut the tartness.

The stuff in the stores has the fruit much further down on the list.

It occurred to me then that the reason there is so much salt and sugar in goods is because there’s so little real ingredients and it tastes terrible. The salt and sugar makes it more palatable, but is just disguising the fact that there’s no quality and it’s destroying your health in the meantime.
