Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., has submitted an official misconduct complaint to the New York State Unified Court System regarding the allegedly “random” selection of Juan Merchan as the judge over the ongoing case against former President Donald Trump in Manhattan, she announced Tuesday evening.
Her complaint comes toward the end of a criminal trial in which Trump has faced 34 felony charges stemming from accusations that he instructed his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to pay “hush money” to pornographer Stormy Daniels to conceal an alleged past affair. Trump is accused of falsifying financial records by failing to label these payments as campaign expenses, an absurd allegation given that labeling such payments as campaign expenses would have been illegal.
Stefanik’s complaint pertains to Merchan’s assignment to three separate criminal cases related to Trump, including his ongoing criminal trial, the previous trial against the Trump Organization, and the upcoming trial against Trump ally Steve Bannon. The New York State Unified Court System’s rules state that criminal cases are assigned to judges randomly, but Stefanik doubts this rule was followed in Democrats’ lawfare crusade, which has proved to be their top 2024 campaign strategy.
“If justices were indeed being randomly assigned in the Criminal Term, the probability of two specific criminal cases being assigned to the same justice is quite low, and the probability of three specific criminal cases being assigned to the same justice is infinitesimally small. And yet, we see Acting Justice Merchan on all three cases,” Stefanik wrote in her misconduct complaint addressed to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct and Inspector General Kay-Ann Porter Campbell.
“One cannot help but suspect that the ‘random selection’ at work in the assignment of Acting Justice Merchan, a Democrat Party donor, to these cases involving prominent Republicans, is in...

Exactly, and Elise was all proud that State GOP Chairman Ed Cox, who nobody can even find with a warrant, appointed her to the at large rep for the convention or some such political nonsense. Hey Elise, pick up the phone, call your buddy Cox and have him get around 100 lawyers to go down to the court house and fight this nonsense at the State Bar. In other words, DO SOMETHING other than write letters. I am so sick of worthless politicians.
Thanks for the ping, but that doesn’t read, as far as I can tell, as an honest defense of this sham trial. It’s just regime talking points and generalities.
The white pill is that sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. And we now have a variety of new options to deal with our political opponents. And it’s easier since they are actually guilty of crimes.
No point weeping over the end of the rule of law. These are the new rules. We didn’t want them, we warned the miscreants, but they didn’t care.
The fight now moves to the Red states, with the Texas primary runoff being a prime example.
It was a mixed bag, with Dade Phelan surviving thanks to Democrat help, and Tony Gonzales barely squeaking by against Brandon Herrera, but we now have enough votes in the TX leg. to get school choice passed, a huge loss for the Democrat and RINO machine. And the only way Phelan gets re-elected as speaker is with more Democrat votes, which is not a given. And at worst, Gonzales got the message that his gun-grabbing gay-agenda RINO policy stance isn’t selling all that well anymore. At best Herrera has been shown to be a good candidate, and though a novice, surprisingly good campaigner. He’s young, there’s plenty of time for him to run again.
And Paxton is in much more comfortable territory. As AG, he’ll be in a strong position to give the Democrat and GOPe machine some of the same treatment that the regime has been visiting on Trump and the MAGA movement.
OK, that’s the white pill.
Getting back to the topic at hand, when the corrupt NY jury convicts Trump on these trumped-up charges that’s just the final wake up call to anyone who still thinks that our nation, as founded, is in anything but mortal peril. Those like your friend you linked to who at best just want to roll over and go back to sleep are irrelevant.
Haven't you left out a factor ?
Shouldn't we multiply 15.625 times the fraction representing the chance that the Judge would have a daughter who just happens to be gathering major funding (millions) for a story on the conviction of President Trump ?
A small chance remains for a hung jury.
