Sounds less efficient than the Mulberry Harbors 80 years ago at Normandy.

Post-war (particularly American) historians say that although it was a success, the vast resources used on the Mulberry may have been wasted, as the American forces were supplied mostly over the beaches without the use of a Mulberry right through to September 1944

Weren’t they washed away as well? They served their purpose, but the ocean is big and temporary piers are very small.
