Putin ‘to arrest DOZENS of military top brass in sweeping Stalin-esque purge to pin blame on them for Ukraine failure’

The UK Ministry of Defence released a warning regarding the potential of anymore arrests coming soon

VLADIMIR Putin is set to cause a sweeping storm within Russia by arresting dozens of military top brass, say sources close to the Kremlin.

The despot is believed to be looking to pin his own failures to defeat Ukraine on a number of men as he looks to unleash his brutal Federal Security Service (FSB) agents to hunt them down.

Five military officers have already been detained in recent weeks under Putin's watch.

But sources close to the Kremlin and the Defense Ministry have sensationally revealed to The Moscow Times that the number of high profile arrests will rise in a purge of the Russian military.

Such a chilling purge wouldn't have been witnessed since the days of tyrant Joseph Stalin.

One source said: "There is a fierce cleanup underway. The FSB is mopping up [former Defense Minister Sergei] Shoigu's team. It’s to be expected.

"This kind of operation can only be carried out with approval at the very top.

“There is still a long way to go before the purges are finished. More arrests await us."...

Why would Putin roll over Ukraine quickly, when he can simply take his time, and let Ukraine bankrupt the United States? Much more effective in the long run.

"150,000 dead Russians in just 2 years, while Russia slowly goes broke, is “winning”?"

The U.S. is going bankrupt over this B.S., but what should that matter to you, a war monger who doesn't even live here.

I bet Russia has far more oil and gas reserves than the U.S. does.

Confessions and show trials will no doubt follow, the purpose of the entire effort being to shift the blame for Russian casualties in Ukraine away from Putin.

Pretending this debacle and global humiliation and depletion of their advanced weaponry, Air Forces, missiles and rockets, Armor and artillery pieces, Air Defenses and Navy, political unrest, loss of weapon sales, loss of the cream of his military, and loss of his vast Soviet war material stocks, major increases in NATO membership and geography and readiness, and the loss of European energy sales was the original plan rather than a quick image building display of Russian Army efficiency and modernization, and effectiveness as they swept in and quickly took Kyiv and then all of Ukraine, isn’t effective or credible.

Not really. Putin sacked Shoigu as Minister of Defense in favor of Andrei Belousov, a civilian economist with no military experience. The point was to get at the true human, material, and financial cost to Russia of the Ukraine misadventure. With a dismal honest accounting from an outsider, Putin has begun cleaning house.

This fits with the old Russian tradition that the people at the top are lied to and accept it as long as things are going reasonably well. When things go wrong, getting the truth permits an easier change in leadership and policies. Corruption can always be claimed and proven because the Russian system runs on corruption.

In addition to a purge of the military leadership, Putin is now publicly talking both nuclear escalation and ceasefire with Ukraine and the West, meaning that he blusters a choice between a nightmare and a deal. These are not the moves of a player with a winning hand.

As the new Minister of Defense Belousov has no doubt told Putin, Russia might win in Ukraine, but she cannot win or even continue the war at a bearable cost. That means that it is time for a purge and lining up people to blame. With that underway, Putin will have greater domestic political freedom to make concessions.

“In America how many generals and officers have been fired for the disasters of Vietnam, Iraq - - -”

How were the Vietnam and the first Iraq wars a disaster? What causes you to make such a remark?

You could have a good valid answer, but I’m just curious.

“Why would Putin want to arrest the people conducting the war that all the pro-Russian people are saying he is winning here on Free Republic?”

The only place where Putin’s forces are winning is as you said here on Free Republic.

Outside of Russia this has become the most viruently pro-Russian/Putin place in the world.

I suspect they’re Ukrainians living in Canada.

Real Canadians tend to be friendlier and more polite.

Ohoh.. btw, did you know that it’s illegal to kill a bear in your state??
I hope you reported yourself!! 🤔

Two and a half years into a ten day war, 500,000 casualties, a fleet eradicated, a treasury emptied, and a few villages conquered at a cost of hundreds of men per kilometer.

That’s not winning.

What the US did in the Second Gulf War? That’s what winning looks like.
