How Russian and NATO armies would size up in a WW3 doomsday scenario: Interactive map shows how alliance compares to Putin's depleted forces after Moscow warned it was prepared for conflict on Ukraine's battlefields
The Daily Mail ^ | 16 May 2024 | David Averre

Russia's war in Ukraine has revealed to the world in graphic detail the smorgasbord of lethal technologies that can be used to destroy one's enemy in a large-scale 21st-century clash.

But despite all the capabilities of such cutting-edge military tech, Moscow's primary frontline tactic appears ripped from the playbook of World War I generals - batter Ukrainians with artillery before dispatching waves of soldiers to secure territory inch by blood-soaked inch.

It's a style of warfare reminiscent of the Battle of Passchendaele - but it has proved nonetheless effective with Vladimir Putin's forces gaining territory hand over fist in eastern Ukraine.

So, until the AI overlords of the future swoop in to do the heavy lifting for us, George S. Patton's observation that 'wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men' looks set to endure.

Patton was one of the United States' most revered generals, but it is in Russia where his axiom is perhaps best understood. It was only thanks to sheer Soviet manpower - and willingness to incur casualties on a scarcely believable scale - that the Allied powers were able to defeat the Nazis in World War II.

This fact is baked into Russia's collective memory and serves as a key ingredient in Vladimir Putin's existentialist rhetoric justifying his war in Ukraine as a necessary resistance against a threatening, expansionist West.

Now, this week's round in the East-West war of words saw Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov goad Western leaders and declare his forces are ready to take on NATO should the security alliance deploy its own troops on Ukrainian soil.

But the truth is that a war at that level is not good for anyone so let's wait to see where the madman is who will give the voice to start the first attack.

Idgits like Vicky Nuland and Lindsay Graham are currently agitating for attacks on Russia proper.

Back when Hollywood could make movies that were somewhat patriotic.

Yeah, that's why The Postman got trashed.

Too patriotic. I love that movie.

to think we feared this nation for 50 years.

True…then the Soviet Union collapsed and Russia ditched communism for free markets, low taxes, and Bible taught in schools. They tried to join NATO but we treated them contemptuously. Our color revolutions on their border wouldn’t have been allowed on ours. We tried to carve Russia up economically and financially until Putin stopped the western backed oligarchs. The 2019 Rand report showed Russia is not looking for trouble, but rather economic growth, stability, and secure borders, so we had to draw them into war by promising to bring Ukraine into NATO for the New World Order to continue it’s world conquest.

They appear to see this fight as an existential one against an encircling global homosexual enemy. Do you blame them?

David Wilkerson prophesied that Russia would nuke the US, and Europe would immediately surrender.

Can you cite where David Wilkerson made this prophecy?

“Vladimir Putin’s forces gaining territory hand over fist in eastern Ukraine.”

Hardly that. If they are, it doesn’t compare with the Western Front at all.

“It was only thanks to sheer Soviet manpower - and willingness to incur casualties on a scarcely believable scale - that the Allied powers were able to defeat the Nazis in World War II.”

Here’s another whopping lie in this article. Tired old “Soviets won the war on their own” lie.

Here’s another whopper:

‘I think that sending Western troops to Ukraine is a subset of supporting Ukraine vigorously... I could name half a dozen countries right now that would be willing to send people to Ukraine.’

I don’t think there is a single NATO member that will risk the losses. This is BS.

I think you completely missed the truth. Russian 10-1 artillery or if its 7-1 has destroyed Ukes forces. Has Russia taken an unexpected beating - YES. The impact is the same. We ( the world including USA, UK UK RUS) may have created a step closer to a major European, NA, RUS war to death. That benefits China, Asia in general, South America, and drumbeat rolllllllllll Middle East.

This was just plain stupid on so many fronts. If you or anyone else is a zeeper and just want Russian blood lust - please ignore my comments/pos. I would rather not get into an argument a pig. They enjoy the fun in the mud. Ultimate they get butchered and the mud is a long lost memory.

Something that has always amazed me.

“willingness to incur casualties on a scarcely believable scale “

The American public would never stand for that anymore. And Europe isn’t worth one drop of American blood.

Curious, if only using 10% why the need for more mobilization?

I understand Ukraine’s reasons, the Russians say they have destroyed the entire Ukrainian military several times over

“Allowing “ s-300/400 systems to be destroyed by weapons they are supposed to be able to defeat is a bold strategy cotton.

Yes there is a UN that has Russia, iran, China and NK as members

No NATO, Russia decides to attack Poland, UN writes strongly worded letter and Russia and China veto it

Lots here like to talk about the corruption in Ukraine, they are amateurs compared to the UN

Not sure China would join in a war along side Russia. Their economy exists because of trade.

I am thinking that China is waiting for the moment to use Putins rationale of historical claims to annex large portion of eastern sections of the Russian Federation

Would solve the yuan/ruble issue for natural resources. Why buy when you can own.

But it is always hard to judge what tyrants will do. Imagine both xi and Putin are not making decisions based on full information, and even if they are do they care. In their minds they are always correct

The portion of the American population who has historically fought in our wars, traditional white men, especially Southerners, will not fight for Biden, or any of his potential replacements for the Democratic Presidential nomination. If a NATO - Russia war winds up in a replica of World War I, and if China, North Korea, and Iran decide to open up new fronts against Taiwan, South Korea, and Israel, the need for manpower and reindustrialization of the Western nations will be urgent.

The only man who might motivate normal white men to fight and would be able to waive numerous legal obstacles to rapid industrial growth and rearmament is Donald Trump. Ironically, he is the man most hated by the perfumed princes of the Pentagon and the elites who favor the World Economic Forum agenda and support the numerous liberal policy groups like the Council on Foreign Relations. Similar politicians like Marine LePen in France or Nigel Farage in Britain will also be needed to motivate the traditional men of their countries.

Our rulers face a dilemma: continue with the likes of Biden, Sunak, and Macron and face their defeat against the Communist and radical Muslim powers who will dominate the world or allow patriotic leaders like Trump to take the helm who would topple their social engineering efforts?

China has just about bled us dry.
They would have no problem collecting the debt we owe them when the time is right.

“ It was only thanks to sheer Soviet manpower - and willingness to incur casualties on a scarcely believable scale - that the Allied powers were able to defeat the Nazis in World War II.”

Such crap.

Without Lend Lease, Russia would not exist.

With just a little bit of tactical training, they could have saved millions of troops. Instead, they conscripted illiterate and generally stupid Asians to rush into machine gun fire.

And they rushed in using American steel and arms.

All of this crap propping us the Great Patriotic War seems to forget those important truths. Russia, with all of its people and natural resources should have been the premier force in the world. But, as a country, they simply never pulled it together.

Perhaps, but China is not exactly in the best shape either. A world or US collapse would not help China, but then again what the death of 40-50 million Chinese leadership, they have done it before
