Cartel members need a home!
The conversion plan promises thousands of new apartments, yet affordability remains a concern.
for “Illegals” you see. Americans not included.
Oh, wow ... who did not see this coming??
I, and, others have been saying this would be happening, for months.
Commercial leases, in NYC, are at rock bottom.
The cost will be insane, to convert, due to plumbing, at the very least, not to mention a/c loads/design.
They’ll house illegals, most likely.
It does sound like a terrible idea. The lay-out of a building built for offices is so much different than that of one for residential. Electrical, water, HVAC, etc. are all totally different for the two. Imagine the difference in sewage piping? The costs to make the change will probably be more than that of destroying the original building and starting over.
Next question. Where are all these new residents going to work? Or, are these just going to be for non-working “new residents” who are on the tax-payer’s dole?
They’ll probably be at least as nice as the projects.
Why would anyone want to be a landlord in NYC or NYS or any leftist run state or city?
It sounds like a good idea to me. It may be the only intelligent thing the Rats are doing in NYC.
One problem: the office buildings provided a reason to live in NYC. No office building means no jobs means less demanding for extra housing.

Does no-one remember Cabrini Green?
Excellent! The New York City Housing Authority is DROOLING to get their share of Taxpayer Dollars from THIS Boondoggle! I’m sure the ‘mayor’ will get his cut, too. *SPIT*

Gotta have some place to put all those WETBACKS!
Trying to get government money to house illegals since the demand for commercial office space has collapsed.
would work just fine as long as a couple of communal bathrooms and kitchens per floor would suffice ... otherwise, retrofitting a plethora of dwelling units with individual plumbing and water, individual HVAC, individual electrical, individual communications, individual kitchens and bathrooms, etc. would be so expensive, they might as well just tear down the building and start over from scratch ...
Eric Adams does not CREATE anything.
Where will NY house the next batch of 100,000 illegals that comes to town?
