I'm currently reading a book titled "The Avengers: A Jewish War Story" by Rich Cohen. It is about a female relative of Cohen's who was part of a small band of resistance fighters in the Lithuanian ghetto of Vilna. When the ghetto is eradicated, these people headed to the forests where they joined Russian and Polish partisans destroying bridges, derailing trains, power plants, water works, etc. They fought along side the Red Army to drive the remaining Germans from Vilnius. Eventually their actions led them to Palestine.

It is. I've just got to the part where the resistance fighters have fought alongside the Red Army to free the city of Vilnius from the Germans. At this point, the head of the Vilna Jewish ghetto resistance group, Abba Kovner is sending some of the group's members as couriers to nearby cities like Kovnov and Grodno to find, and get info from other Jewish refugees they meet, and report back.
