I am going to recommend Franklin Horton’s Borrowed World and Locker 9 series, even if you just can read the first few chapters of the first books in each of the series. with our open borders and refusal to check these people the scenario is completely plausible.

Student Visa overstays have become common and INS no longer seeks nor finds them for deportation.
Sometimes a foreigner receives a student visa, registers at the university then immediately drops out and disappears into the population. Just another statistic.
We really need a law, preferably a Constitutional Amendment, stating that no person entering or residing in this country unlawfully shall ever be granted a path to citizenship - ever!!!
