A no-doubt violent tornado just impacted Greenfield, Iowa and adjacent areas, lofting debris to around 40,000 feet(!!!!), a feat only achieved by the absolute highest echelon of tornadoes in the dual-pol WSR-88D era.

PRAYERS
Nice town. Was there about 20 years ago.
County seat for Adair County.
An Internet storm chaser is verifying one fatality so far. Someone was in a truck and the tornado hit it and ejected ‘em from it. Not sure where though.
Tornadoes in the Des Moines area too.
I have been following this all afternoon. It looks like that entire town was flattened. The tornado hit it dead on, and was about as wide as the entire town. And it blew through at about 55mph. It was over in a few minutes…..
It’s breathtaking.
We’re gonna get it here in Northern Illinois in an hour or two.
Just moved to Clinton Iowa so all this is west of me.
We are working on the house so we grabbed the vinyl siding that was laying around and stuck it in the garage.
We are supposed to get rain around 7 and already in tornado watch.
Wow, stay safe! The sun has been shining here, with the temperature at 88deg.
The local weather guy is saying that the warmer air is only going to make things worse.
Yep, since we lived northwest of Chicago we are familiar with tornado watches and warning but never had been in a tornado.Thank G-d. Don’t expect a tornado but heavy storm. You stay safe too.
So you're saying fill up my EV now?
One of my daughters lives in Des Moines. Today, she said she's okay and not too worried, that there have been a lot of alerts lately without a tornado.
We said all it takes is one to be a problem. Especially if she were on the road going or coming from work. In the past she has pulled over under an overpass when storms happened. Hopefully, no one hurt in those small towns.
Some big trees down in Urbandale and a few power outages. Plenty of flooded streets and dummies stalling vehicles. Not terrible for DM metro.
Woman thrown from truck and killed near Corning, 80 or so miles east of Omaha. Greenfield looks like a war zone.
Maybe damage still to be done as storms move into Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. And northern Missouri.
GREENFIELD, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State Patrol confirms deaths from tornado and at least a dozen injuries, but doesn’t release specific numbers.
