Kind of, I guess. The Germans gave Vichy quotas. At the time over half the Jews in France were refugees from eastern Europe. Vichy filled the quotas from those first. Of the 77,000 Jews from France murdered, 2/3 or a little more were refugees. France is third in individuals recognized in Yad Vashems Righteous Among the Nations, after Poland and the Netherlands. French Jewish citizens were more likely to be sheltered or smuggled to Switzerland or Spain than refugees, presumably because of existing relationships.
Also the Germans really couldn’t spare the manpower in France, once they invaded the Soviet Union, they basically had to rely on the French to do their dirty business.
France had lost the war. Germany won.
Thats why Germany simply applied its anti-jewish policies in France. France had zero possibilities to say no. How could it? France was basically run directly by Berlin.
Italy was never attacked nor occupied by Germany, thus Italy could preserve its political autonomy. Its a huge difference.
You might note post 43. Other factors, the majority of Jews in France at the time were refugees from eastern Europe comprised around 3/4 of the deportees. And certainly the bravery of loyal French who protected and transported Jews to safety, logically concentrated on those they knew.

There’s a vast gulf of difference between “we were forced to do it” and the absolute enthusiastic willful full bore support that France gave to it.

Macron (I call him “Micron”) won by stealing the last 2 elections. So many “leaders” are in their positions by chicanery of one sort or another. And of course now France is at least 10% mohammedan so the elites are afraid of them and have to cater to them. France, like the UK and the USA, is ruined. Of course we can come back once Trump is in the WH. Don’t know about them.

Largely correct. Italy was relatively safe for Jews until the Germans occupied it in 1943 and began hunting them down for extermination.
On the other hand, the Vichy French served the genocidal, antisemitic demands of their German masters with gusto and efficiency.
Culturally speaking, Italians have their flaws but being bloodthirsty, genocidal maniacs isn't one of them.
I cannot imagine Italians going along with starving, mass murdering and mutilating women and children.

BS. The Danes did not cooperate and even helped thousands escape to Sweden. Maybe the French couldn’t stop the Nazis but they did not have to enthusiastically cooperate.
