When the Taiping launched their revolt against the Ching Dynasty in 1850, their Heavenly Leader thought every man, woman, and child was an infantryman first. Ching regulars were shocked at how many women and children soldiers they encountered on the front.

After about a year into the war, reality set in and Taiping had to change their policy of women and children in combat because their units were performing so poorly on the battlefield.

Hasn’t Israel used women in their military for years including Special Forces and I believe it’s mandatory

I think they’ve plenty of roles in the military women can do just as effectively as men so why not if the defense of your nation is at stake

The Russians kind of disproved that in WW2. The one thing they did not have a shortage of was men.

That said, in a world where both men and women have the vote and you have a population base that does not render every single woman a precious commodity for population purposes, both men and women should be subject to the draft. Beyond that, the more people that get basic military training, the less support gun control measures will have.
