Bjørg Hjorth Nørgaard, 19, has not finished high school yet but has already enlisted to pay a duty to her country.
The young woman has volunteered for Denmark's four-month military training camp before university, fully aware that war has returned to Europe.
"It's a personal journey … I have signed up at my own free will," she said.
"It's no longer an argument that men fight wars, women do it as well now."
Young men in the country have for a long time been conscripted based on a lottery system.
If your number is called, it is compulsory to attend four months of basic military training, although others are welcome to join voluntarily, including women.
But Denmark's government is planning to make it gender-neutral, meaning 18-year-old women will be in the lottery too.
The time commitment for conscripts will also increase to 11 months so trainees can learn more combat skills.
"It has a more serious note now … and there's this more serious aspect of war in Europe that has an effect on all of us," Bjørg said.

The Russians kind of disproved that in WW2. The one thing they did not have a shortage of was men.
That said, in a world where both men and women have the vote and you have a population base that does not render every single woman a precious commodity for population purposes, both men and women should be subject to the draft. Beyond that, the more people that get basic military training, the less support gun control measures will have.

They still don’t fill all positions. Israel might be opening positions as technology allows positions to open up without women being a detriment to military readiness.

I still think it’s wrong, in my view.
True, women are not meant to be in every military position, but they are qualified for more than support, drone or supply jobs and if they can do the job, they should be able to do them.
Certainly, women can fly attack helicopters and fighter aircraft, even the US has women doing these jobs and jobs like combat medics, etc.
In this case, Denmark has a woman who wants to step up and join their military, why not allow it.
1. I’m big on having a society that values life. I see women being involved in killing to be contrary to that position. If we are going to be a pro-life society, we should be encouraging women to learn to love life and not be familiar with taking life.
2. The West’s ability to prosper corresponds with how closely we follow natural law, as created by God. The closer we can get, the more we will prosper. Our unwillingness to pay attention and shape our society around natural law is killing us.
The left is big on personal fulfillment, even at the expense of natural law. That is why our society has been condemned to death. A lack of repentance on this point is going to result in the West being rumoured in history, as opposed to reality in history.
3. Having both men and women work out of the home was purposefully planned by the socialists to get us to hand over our children to the government and turn both partners into wage earners, which resulted in wages being cut in half.
