Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian are reportedly missing after a helicopter he was travelling in was forced to make a “hard landing” on the border of Azerbaijan, local media reported.
The massive search for the Bell 412 helicopter involving Red Crescent rescue teams, military personnel, and police is ongoing but is being hampered due to heavy fog in the region. Teams of men are currently on foot looking for the helicopter at the latest reports.
Iran's television networks have no changed their line from "hard landing" to "accident" more than two hours after the helicopter crash. The country's health minister "all health facilities have been sent to the location."

The mullahs are still the real rulers of Iran, thus no change will happen.
Wonder what was said between the crashed helicopter and the remaining two before the crash.
Did the other see the crash? Why didn’t one stay behind?
Accident or not, he sure ‘had’ some cajones to fly out of his home country after all his bluster.
That’s a shame (Seinfeld )
Looks like the Butcher of Tehran finally met instant karma.
When they mullahs hit the ground, the descent continued.
This really tears me up!!
Oh well, what’s on TV?
“This makes, what, the eighth posting of this topic on FR now? Maybe more? That must be one resilient helicopter to have crashed that many times.”
There’s no such thing as too much good news.
Both Russia and China have used airplane crashes to get rid of politicians they had concerns about. Recently, the Wagner group was wiped out in total. Further back in time, a mysterious crash helped Mao consolidate control. It’s convenient, and it has plausible deniability. The suspect list is probably pretty long, but I’d wonder who in Iran’s elite benefits the most.
Of course, it’s entirely possible it’s an accident. But if there’s a few more mysterious deaths and someone new in Iran acquires more control or power...well...just coincidence.
BTW, both Iran and China have been making hay in the remote countries that Russia has considered their back yard. It has caused quite a bit of consternation in the Kremlin. Problem is, other than running propaganda and black ops there’s not a thing Russia can do about it at the moment. And those countries have been hit hard by Russian stealth mobilizations. I forget which regional president just said, “If they have another mobilization here, it will wipe out the future of our country entirely.” He was shown wearing a yellow and blue ribbon on his lapel. (Ukrainian colors.)
Great cartoon, this situation deserves a laugh.
Three search and rescue members searching for Raisi’s helicopter are now also missing, sources say. https://t.co/O0luwyXq0T— The Intel Crab (@IntelCrab) May 19, 2024
