Surprising no one, the staunchly conservative Arkansas Supreme Court unanimously upheld four 2021 state laws that make voting in Arkansas less pleasant, less convenient and less likely to count.
In an opinion issued Thursday, the seven-member court overturned former Pulaski County Circuit Judge Wendell Griffen’s 2022 ruling that the four laws at issue hindered the fundamental right to vote and were therefore unconstitutional.

The 2021 laws the state Supreme Court upheld Thursday are:
Act 973, which shortens the window to turn in absentee ballots, moving the deadline from the Monday before Election Day to the Friday before.
Act 736, requiring county clerks to compare signatures on absentee ballot applications and voter registrations to make sure they match.
Act 249, which makes the state’s voter ID law more strict. Previously, voters without identification could still cast a valid ballot as long as they signed an affidavit. Under Act 249, anyone who goes to the polls and votes without the required ID will have to go to the county board of election commissioners or the county clerk by noon of the Monday following the election with photo ID in hand, or their vote will not count.
Act 728, which blocks anyone at a polling site who’s not there for voting purposes from coming within 100 feet of the door to the site. This law creates distance between voters and those nice people who used to hand out water and snacks when the lines got long.

Also, elections have consequences so research carefully before voting.

Those nice people….
Isn’t there AI that can compare a ballot signature to a signature on file?
So Arktimes=NYT Got it.
Letists always fight against election integrity which proves 1000% they have a huge interest in election fraud.
“Make voting harder” actually means “make CHEATING harder”, but that’s leftists for you.
OMG, I have to bring an ID! My signature has to match! I won’t get water within a hundred feet of voting! I have to get my absentee ballot in on time! This is awful. They are making it SO hard to vote!
Bingo! It’s as simple as that.

This does not make it more difficult to vote, it actually relives voters of having to go through a gauntlet of politicians who want to shake your hand. In Maine all the can do is shake your hand and say “I am Joe Schmoo, thanks for voting”. I once had a voter complain to the warden because I was opening the door for people. They thought my courtesy was influencing voters.
Such pain and suffering.
good job sarah
“Harder” = “More honest and less susceptible to fraud”
Geez...Bring your own damn water and a cookie...This is not a picnic...

Arkansas made it harder to vote illegally. Liberals are finding this very upsetting, I wonder why.
The four things (bring valid ID, get your ballot in on time, bring your own water, write a legible signature that can be matched) are the most simple, most rudimentary civic requirements you can imagine. If you cannot do these simple civic requirements, they you shouldn’t be voting.
Yet again, the leftists are saying their constituency is just too stupid, too ignorant, too incapable of doing these simple civic virtue things. If their voters are that stupid, that ignorant, and that incapable, do we really want them voting?
Just as long as it isn’t beer.
In Oklahoma, I needed to have my absentee ballot notarized. No big deal. Not much longer than voting in person.
Austin Gelder is a Jewish girl in I think Little Rock
Quite the busy bee lefty activist
