On a road trip a few years ago spent one night in Santa Cruz. Stopped there to see the train. Never again. Cool little town, and the train down the center of yr street by the pier was cool.
But nothing but bums and stoners. At night you couldn’t leave your room without getting accosted constant by stoned bums.
So what? Americans are free to celebrate anyone’s birthday they want.
Poor taste? Stupid? Ignorant? Yep, but Americans get to be stupid, have poor taste and be ignorant.
Today’s crop of students are ignorant of many things. They can not tell you in what year the war of 1812 was fought, nor can they tell you when WWII happened. The list of what they don’t know would fill a library. So I doubt the students even know who Hitler was, let alone his birthday.
Someone at the university is filling their empty heads with hate.

Celebrating Hitler’s birthday shouldn’t be illegal. But it should be career limiting, relationship limiting and a near certainty to get the participants’ butts physically transposed with their faces.
