David DePape, the man convicted of breaking into the home of House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and bludgeoning her husband with a hammer was sentenced to 30 years in prison Friday by a federal judge.

Someone ‘nearly kills’ someone else almost every day in NYC. What kinds of sentences are they getting?

The ones who kick cops in the head are let off.

They put him in a deep dark hole for likely the rest of his life so he wouldn’t talk about what really happened.

This is just the federal charges for kidnapping, and assault of a government official or family member. Prosecutors sought 40 years.

He now goes on to face state charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and more. He’ll be behind bars for the rest of his life.

He has already talked about everything by way of a complete confession, but he will have another opportunity at his even more serious state trial.

Yeah, something is really wrong with our justice and sentencing system. I’ve seen stories of murderers getting out in much less time.

Hammer Down
Song by Magnolia Electric Co. (On album What Comes After the Blues)

I saw the light
On the old gray town
Sometimes I forget that I’ve always been sick
And I don’t have the will to keep fighting

Hammer down
Heaven bound
Hammer down
Heaven bound

He should have attacked a Republican. He would have been given probation.

Do you?

This question makes about as much sense.

He shouldn't have "put the hammer down" on P. P. ('s) head.

I don’t have a lot of sympathy for people who beat old people with hammers, regardless of that person’s political affiliation.

Why not look at the vast information that we do have rather than just skipping all of it and claiming,
“”They put him in a deep dark hole for likely the rest of his life so he wouldn’t talk about what really happened.”” and repeating “We will never know”

Why not tell us what you think happened?

Personally, I think there was some type of relationship between DePape and Pelosi. What is know may be true but it’s likely not the entire story. I doubt it was because DePape was after Nancy.

The guy that attacked Rand Paul got about 7 months. The original sentence was 30 days. The sentences are a mile apart.

I know a person that killed a woman by shooting her in the head and got 15 years and was out in 8. What other reason would 30 years be other than to silence him?

It was an exceptionally planned out, premeditated, and brutal attack with the original plan directed at the Speaker of the House and taking place in her personal residence against her husband.

There is a whole lot of serious crime involved there, even terrorism.
