You do have to ask yourself; Why wouldn’t you want your supporters to be in the venue to show their support?
My guess is, they’re concerned that audible stimulation from the audience, may trigger a mental shutdown.
I’m afraid people no longer know how to act at these “contests”. They boo and cheer and go nuts. In days gone by, you listened politely and applauded at the most.
