CNN will trust Jake Tapper and Dana Bash with moderating the first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, the presumptive nominees for each of their respective parties, both agreed to two debates — one hosted by CNN on June 27 and another hosted by ABC News in September — earlier on Wednesday.
“CNN Anchors @JakeTapper and @DanaBashCNN will moderate CNN’s Presidential Debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27 from Atlanta, Georgia. The debate will air live at 9pET on @CNN channels, CNN.com and on CNN Max,” read a statement posted online by CNN.
ABC News has not yet said who it will task with moderating the second scheduled debate on September 10.
Meanwhile, Trump has agreed to a third debate in October that he said would be hosted by Fox News’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, but Biden’s team has already indicated that he will not agree to such a forum.

One of the problems is that, if Biden does really, really badly to the point that his mental incapacity is obvious, the 25th Amendment might be invoked with support from the Democrats so that a substitute nominee can be put in place. For Trump it is perhaps better for Biden to be the nominee than to have a surprise entrant at the last minute.

I am sorry, but the debates are not like a Spanish Inquisition for the Conservatives. The moderators are always in the bag for the liberals, down to giving the questions in advance and helping them recover during the debates. Trump believes, arrogantly, that he can overcome a crooked debate and dirty journ-o-lists. What he doesn’t understand is that most of liberal Americ already hates him, and won’t listen to reason or believe that the Biden administration is now the gold standard for failed administrations.
Can’t say that I think this is smart for Trump. Anybody open to ideas already knows that Biden is a failure, liar, leach, and on the take. Trump is wasting his time trying to convince liberals.

Senator Kerry, what mistakes did President Bush make in his first term and what would you do differently? Twenty years later and these CNN people will be doing the same stuff.

Fine with me. Trump feels at home being surrounded by Leftists. He ends up debating Biden and the moderators and just makes him even more appealing. I’m not at all worried.
