CNN will trust Jake Tapper and Dana Bash with moderating the first presidential debate of the 2024 election cycle.
President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, the presumptive nominees for each of their respective parties, both agreed to two debates — one hosted by CNN on June 27 and another hosted by ABC News in September — earlier on Wednesday.
“CNN Anchors @JakeTapper and @DanaBashCNN will moderate CNN’s Presidential Debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27 from Atlanta, Georgia. The debate will air live at 9pET on @CNN channels, CNN.com and on CNN Max,” read a statement posted online by CNN.
ABC News has not yet said who it will task with moderating the second scheduled debate on September 10.
Meanwhile, Trump has agreed to a third debate in October that he said would be hosted by Fox News’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum, but Biden’s team has already indicated that he will not agree to such a forum.

Over the past couple (or three?) decades, it has really ticked me off that the GOP just folds and lets the left set the rules for Presidential debates. I realize this year is a bit different and Trump marches to the beat of a different drummer, but even without Trump in the equation, the GOP acts as if the debates are a surprise to them. They have had plenty of time to set some rules and state that the Debate Commission shouldn’t come to them with proposed dates for debates unless they are held on a more level playing field
For real??!!! Tapper and Bash? Two of the most never-Trumper never Trumpers they could possibly find.
I hope to god Trump knows what he’s doing. So far this debate “deal” is shaping up to be a real dumpster fire. I cannot believe he just agreed, without any apparent protections in place, and all the details in Biden’s favor. Of course we know the RNC will have nothing to offer, so once again Trump will be on his own. Tapper and Bash. Might as well be Bonnie and Clyde.
With questions like How many young voters did you save financially by forgiving their college debt Mr. President? Why hasn't Trump saved the climate like you have Mr. Biden? Why does Trump hate women yet you preserved their right to an abortion Mr. Biden.

Debates should consist of only questions asked by one candidate to the other. Only way to prevent the D from getting the questions in advance.
The conditions of debates get worse every four years for the GOP candidate.

I want to know which drugs had Hillary survive pneumonia in 24 hours, what is keeping Biden alive.
Aside from that will the ask about MrNA vaccines, Chinese nefarious drug pipelines, military aged males in America, the Fent crisis, the illegals, the inflation, the serious cost of living, the racism and how the FBI( three letter agencies) are fomenting riots, the failure of the education system, the war against oil or at least a plan to build more power plants to keep American’s driving.
I want to know about how to make peace and why we’re shoveling money and oil to China, Ukraine and Israel when no one is getting help in America.
I want to know what my vote will change( nothing).

I think that the redeeming grace in this is that Biden, who is arguably no longer mentally competent to be President, will have to make semi-coherent arguments, and Trump can point out the problems in Biden’s answers. All will be able to see. It will be tough for Biden regardless of who the moderators are. And I think that Tapper at least will ask a question or two that will require a reasoned defense of his policies.
