The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday confirmed the hiring of a longtime PG&E executive to head the Department of Water and Power at an annual salary of $750,000 - a sharp increase from her predecessor.

Janisse Quiñones replaces current general manager Martin Adams, who is retiring. He was paid a salary of $435,000.
